Maybe you can answer this. I'm using a DX6 Radio, AR631 Spektrum Receiver and Hitec HS425BB Analog Servos. I see where to choose Analog on my radio, but not sure if it's confirmed??? How do you tell? Also does the AR631 Receiver work with Analog Setting on my Radio and with the Analog Servos? And, do all Spektrum Receivers work well with Analog Servos?

1. The BetaFPV SuperG Gemini module fits the X20 Pro perfectly, unlike the HappyModel ES24TX Slim Pro which I've been using on the X20/X18/TWIN X-Lite but would not seat on the X20 Pro.

2. Latest ETHOS ELRS Script supports Gemini just fine

3. ETHOS 1.5.x now supports selectable baud rates for ELRS Modules.

I am concerned that I will pull the aileron wire(s) out of the crimp connectors when removing the wing from the fuselage. I tried to repair a broken wire from one crimp. The solder held but the blob was too big for the crimp connector to be locked into the plastic housing. The board has exposed contacts that are 1 mm spacing and I don’t want to risk a bad solder joint.

To reduce damage to the wires and crimp connection I have installed a loop of spider wire fishing line into a hole that I drilled in the white plastic housing.

Hemostats or needle nose plyers could be used to remove the connector with out stressing the wires but this pool string works just as well.

Before building an RC model plane I typically like to research the pilot for Christian connections and build a 1/48 scale model of his or her plane. The smaller plastic models usually contain amazing detail. The build helps me catch nuances, too.

Eddie Rickenbacker frequently called upon the name of the Lord when flying and later in life when he was stranded for 21 days in a raft with a B-17 crew. An article that he wrote appeared in the first edition of Guidepost magazine.

This plastic model was a Christmas gift and built by DML Models. It is a 1/48 scale model, but the box had been opened and the bust was not included in this model kit. It also contained photoetched parts. I made a trip to the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio, for close-up research. Camoflage was a new challenge for me on this build.

The cockpit has a shelf around the front which made instrument placement interesting. I stayed pretty close to production standards, including making masks from green Frog painters tape. One glitch was the decals. They required soaking in water for at least 30 minutes. Most of the bigger decals, like roundels, shattered when trying to remove them. The final roundels were used from another kit. However, the nomenclature on the rudder and the hat-in-the-ring logo remained largely intact.

Maybe, just maybe, I’ll build an RC version one day. If you have any suggestions let me know....Continue Reading

I have for your consideration a Carl Goldberg ARF Tiger 400. The kit contains all necessary hardware, prop, spinner, wheels and motor. This is the smaller model of the Carl Goldberg Tiger ARF. This plane can easily be assembled to be ready to fly in less than a day.

Enhanced the Vertical Stab of my 2nd used Hangar9 F4U-1D 50-size (57-inch wingspan). This model had already suffered during previous owner who flew it at Grass Field only and flip-overs were a common thing.

Well, it happened again on my watch as the model veered off the textile runway and onto the adjacent grass area and it performed a flip-over. The Vertical stab is made of soft Balsa only construction and the need for some rigid and stronger construction is certainly needed as I was shocked that there were no harder wood in its Vertical stab. This now will be at least resistant to damage in case another flip-over occurs.

This week I did something radical. I rounded up four RC planes that I enjoyed and took them to my LHS to sell:
1. Ford Flivver 1/5 scale my first build from plans
2. DW Hobbies kit: Hansa Brandenburg w.29 in a 1920 Denmark Sea Rescue livery
3. DW Hobbies Kit: Griffin -- a well-worn flying "warmliner"
4. Parkzone Extra 300

All four of these would be welcome in most everyone's hangar. However, I made a life decision that jettisoned these.

I want to build, display, and fly RC scale models that stand for something. As a Christian, I would ideally want them to reflect a pilot who was a Christian. Anything merely historical or just cool to fly just won't make the cut for me right now. And there’s some things I’d love to build some day.

But I’m responding to a higher calling. I'd like to be known as flying planes with a purpose.

Over these past 8 years, I have many RC planes that have been game-changers for me. Being associated with a Piper PA-14 Family Cruiser that carries markings like Nate Saint is where it started. Spend much time in my blogs and you'll notice something different. I did too. Eliminating four planes may not sound like much, but after letting two go last year began the step. One is in a museum and the other is waiting on pickup from a guy in Texas.

What are you known for? Would it require you to focus on your own priorities and letting go?

So, sometimes a Red Neck just gets overwhelmed.

I'd planned on flying Draco during the totality of last week's solar eclipse. Got everything set up (I thought), with some drones, videos cameras and Draco locked and loaded with 4 GoPros.

BUT, I fooled around way too long with my big video camera, and blew through my 4 minutes of darkness, watching the whole thing like a neanderthal staring at fire. By the time I got Draco cranked up, the backside of the eclipse had burst the Hill into sunlight, but I figured to just go ahead and have a flying day in the somewhat calm air that hadn't been around in the past few weeks.

So, here's Draco, playing over the hill. The sun is still partially blocked, but is so bright that the GoPros couldn't discern it with the settings I'd chosen.

Hope all my buds made it safely through the event with functioning retinas!

After 10 years of debugging firmware, hacking CAD models, etching boards, reworking solder, rewinding motors, the lion kingdom saw an RC golf cart in the field. It was negotiating grass without any problem.

https://batcaddy.com/products/batcaddy-x3r

This one has a full transmitter, skid steering, heading hold for $700. They claim at least 18 holes or 4 miles of range but getting 8 miles of range has a $1000 tag. Maybe it goes farther without any payload or more range can be hacked with cheaper batteries. The rigid, smooth wheel design wasn't expected on grass.

https://motogolf.com/products/bat-ca...ric-golf-caddy

This one just has a power assist but no RC or steering.

The remote control is an interesting design. It's very specific to golf needs & emphasizes autonomy. A timer button drives it forward by fixed distances, using odometry. The speed of the timer button is set by a pot on the truck itself. It probably maxes out at 4 mph. Continuous forward & backward use single press buttons to increment the speed. Stopping is a different button & definitely not a matter of letting go. Turning requires holding a button.

It has a passive braking system based on a gearbox. They're probably good old geared, brushed motors.

A separate panel on the truck itself allows odometry movement.

Honestly thought it would be up to the level of brushless, direct drive motors & fully proportional remote control but they're able to charge a lot of money for a...Continue Reading

I bought decals from Ebay. The yellow Wrangler on the side looks different than the yellow 3 on top. The blue background is showing through on the Wrangler, but not on the 3. They look the same on the decal sheet, but the yellow Wrangler is not made as thick or maybe the not the same material as the yellow 3. It looks like 2 different color yellows on the body.

Once again thanks to illsmoq for being nice enough to let this go needed some oil on its motor and flys amazing the transmitter was refurbished by me (broken switch, screen not working, sound module not beeping things like that) and it does just fine controlling the models I hope to have many more flights with this little plane its one of the better ones!

Also figured out oil makes the paint really sticky whoops
