Shipmates,
I am in recon mode today in Ohio to locate a suitable lake for the gun fight. Weather tomorrow is rain so Saturday is the scheduled sailing day now and we may do some on Sunday as well. I hope to post a name and address for the lake this evening. RG |

Shipmates: After the recon mission today, a PERFECT location was found at Caesar Creek Lake south east of Dayton OH. We have approval from the US Army Corps of Engineers to launch and sail our ships from the NORTH POOL RAMP area on Saturday and Sunday, and if necessary Monday.
There are a number of boat ramps and we also have access to a hand launch area at the same location. Both sites are PERFECT for our needs. http://www.bing.com/maps/default.asp...vt=map+of+ohio The ramp is located off of 73 and it is accessed by 42 south of Xenia. The cross road is at Waynesville. We plan to be at the lake on or about 1000 hours on Saturday and possibly Sunday. Bring yer hankie LT. Dan--you may cry at the first broadside from Surprise. CAPTAIN RAYMBO |

I say, looks like you commanders had a great time of it! Seems to have been a bit of a gale going, but I guess we cannot always choose our battle conditions....
I regret that I was unable to join you, but have great memories of previous encounters. Anxiously awaiting videos & pix!! Good sailing to you! |

Shipmates: The little known history of the battle for Lake Erie is finally told. The 10 September 1813 engagment was not the first. We have uncovered video from a cave in Ohio that had been sealed for almost 200 years, but here it is now after restoration.

I think I want my next project to be on this scale! (DanL, could you design a cart to take this to the water with? )

TS--I really love the lines on this one. It would be a wonderful sailer for sure. I have the truck that will pull it and a two axle trailer will draw along just fine. When do you plan to start?
I wonder if these guys are building this for a flick of some kind or another. The Master and Commander movie had several of these in NZ but I was told they were not actual sailing models but towed in the water. I would not know but I really love the lines of this ship. |

Ray,
I have a link here that goes to a non-English site. This looks like a museum build of the HMS Beagle for a presentation on Charles Darwin. Still, wouldn't mind trying it out on the water! http://www.modelismonaval.com/magazi...e/beagle2.html |

Reason: original link too long.
