Wheel Pants
Decided I may as well get them on. There has GOT to be a better way to do this. I decided to take a different approach. The way I did it is in the images. No lock collars are used & the tires turn freely. The inside spacer is a cut down servo horn and the outside grey spacer is from the parts included in the kit. I think it's for the axles. The metal bracket is from the Sullivan wheel pant bracket. I got lucky because the spacers made for a perfect fit with no slop for the tire to turn.

Aww Cr*p
Back to the drawing board. We made and ruined 3 pieces of tube trying to make the exhaust. Had to mill the OD on the tube in order to thread it. Also milled the OD on the tube before bending. Milled down to .456? full length.
Spring bender= failure - kinked Tubing bender=failure - kinked heated tube=failure - snapped in half I'm just going to slap a muffler on and see if a silicone adapter will hold for a few flights. Maybe this weekend I can get it into the air if the weather holds.. Dan |

I heard two stories about Monroe, good/ok for buyers but the vendors were unhappy. Not sure which to believe because I know both of them pretty well. On a side note, I put my Pilot1 electric 18% SBach up on Sunday. It was ugly. The bird was tail heavy, took 8 passes and 400' of runway to get it down in one piece. I'll have to drag it along and put up some pics of side by side at the field. Colorwise, the Pilot beats the GW hands down IMHO. I'll either be writing a big hoorah or whining in the next few days if the weather will co-operate. Dan |

It looks as though this bird is going to be a KEEPER!!!!
Put 7.5 minutes air time on it plus some ground time and used 1/2 tank of fuel. Take off was straight down the RW and lifted off nicely. I'm using less then 50% throws for testing. Prop was 13x6 on the Saito. On board glow worked perfect. Did a few loops. Axial rolls are really really quick. I think loops are rolling out to the right. Hard to say as my hands were kind of cold. Pretty much a floater for landing. I carried a bit of speed though until I can gain some seat time. About 50% of the flight I used WOT. It may not be unlimited vertical but if not, it may as well be. It was getting to small to see. I tried 1 knife edge but I was to far out to keep it under control. Unsure about any hammerheads with limited throws set. Took 4 clicks up elevator & 4 clicks right aileron down for straight and level. Fuel tank isn't bubbling and is setting rock solid. Bad news being, I blew the silicon muffler extension off during engine run up in the stand. I was PO'd but flew anyway. Dan |

sounds great deckert! ya I probably should have spent the extra 50 bucks and got the SBACH, but I was looking for an airframe for my 20cc gas engine!
so I bought a 100 chinnise version of the GP 64" EXTRA 330! it's almost identical to my extra 300s, except it has bigger ailerons, and exstensions on the elevator! I.E. more throw! like my GP extra 300s on steriods! you'll get that exuast fig'd out! good thing bout a 4 stroker, they don't slob oil like a 2 stroker! (unless there old like the 20 I have in my eflite 260 ) |

I hear ya. We gotta make choices sometimes.. I'm pretty sure I'll like this more as I get better aquainted with it. I already like it better then the SeaGull Edge 540 I had. It flies lighter and is a whole lot easier to see in the air. I'll be trying some different props to see what else happens.

Going good on my end. Still gently feeling mine out. I wound up bolting brass tubing onto the old style muffler. It sure is a floater. Wheel pants are still on & working. I'm just doing baby steps on mine to get the feel of it. The Sullivan on board glow is working great. No flame outs. Let us know what you change into. Dan |
