I'm sorry my friend, I don't mean to taunt you... You'll be flying yours soon enough, and I suspect she'll get alot of flight time....my other models are extremely jealous... It's the perfect size. It's a true "grab-n-go" model, and it'll fly forever on the stock 2S batteries. Plenty of power as well....no need to fly it on 3S; I put the stock prop back on it as I want to get used to it and be able to wring out the maximum performance off of 2S...was even doing some awesome touch and gos this morning....you're gonna love flying this model. Just remember everything we've said about the flare, and you'll be fine. This model really is a 37" pussycat. It just looks so cool flying around like an Archer, I found I didn't even feel the need to do aerobatics, even though a few rolls and loops did sneak in...! If you check my blog, you'll read about my little "flying field"....I guess you could technically call it a "dual-use" facility ! Can you imagine a Carbon Cub in this size class ! I'd be on that in a hot minute ! Happy flying, John |

I'm with you John I would be all over a Carbon Cub in this size.
I used to be a micro guy but I got tired of battery and servos going bad. Then I went big 55+ inch wingspans. Now I've settled in to the sizes I like. 32 - 50 inches is about perfect for me. My biggest is the Parkzone Stinson that I love, but it might get sold soon if more scale flier birds in this size come out. This is a size that handles well and can go any where with me. I've said this before but I would love to see a Pilatus PC-12 modeled in this size, a BE-35 V tail Bonanza, a DC-3 would be fun, RV-9, Cessna 337, Piper Pawnee, Ercoupe, Lancair Legacy, and finally a Navion. My beloved stagger wing is already about this size. I would just like to see Parkzone come out with a GA line that is less modeled aircraft. I sit around all day and get to look at airplanes and the above are some of my absolute favorite. I would buy each and every one of the above planes if modeled in a reasonable size and didn't cost me an arm and a leg. I realize that almost every one of these Horizon offers, but they aren't affordable, and they aren't in a size that my space constraints imposed upon me by my wife will allow me to own. I can't get a 70 inch plane again because I'm not willing to park my car in the driveway when its 27 degrees and snowing, and my wife wont let me store it in the house. A handful of 32-40 inch planes I can mount on the wall out of the way and we are both happy. This is where Parkzone needs to head in the future. Let E-flite and Hanger 9 build the 40+ inch guys and make 3 Parkzone lines in this size. WWI and WWII war birds, GA scale fliers, that are truly park fliers, and 3D planes. Even though 3D isn't conducive to flying in any local park I know too many people and too great a risk of hurting someone. I'm sorry for the little rant, but this is where I would like to see Horizon take their lines, it would make it easy for people to find planes, it would bring more people into the hobby who don't have the space for a 40+ inch wingspan plane, and don't want to spend 300+ dollars on a plane that will fly for 6 minutes and then need to charge for an hour or more. |

I am right there with you on everything you said....
I should note, that in talking to Eric Johnson, he hinted, and I'll reiterate hinted, that if the Archer were successful, more models in this size class were likely to follow suit. I sincerely hope this happens....and yes, the Navion is one of my absolute, all-time favorites of general aviation. What an absolutely classic design. I think I actually like it better than the fabled Cub, which I'm quite sure to some is tantamount to blasphemy, but oh well. I really like the lines and classic colors of the Navion You'd think it'd be a "no-brainer" to make a Navion in this class; tri-cycle gear, substantial dyhedral, great color schemes....I'd like to see the polished aluminum with the old "NCXXXX" registration...absolutely classic... Could use the same powerplant, 2S battery, prop, etc. Sorry for going on, but I really want to see a Navion some day....oh, and a Carbon Cub that doesn't have linear actuators...! And you're quite right in that this would be the perfect size....Parkzone is breaking new ground and we're watching it happen....how cool is that ? Take care my friend, John |

Staggerwing is my all time favorite bird, and I am lucky enough to have an eflite one to fly, it is a dream and really close to this size. I really hope that this plane takes off, and people start to realize its potential and how well it flies, just because I want more in this size.

Mine is so hot that I swet in there and the thick plastic window gets all fogged up . But when I say its too cold I mean its really cold and too cold even for the electronics of the plane. Years ago I was flying glow in really cold days on ski and I was putting those Hot Shot warm pads inside the fuselage to keep the components warm and it really worked well but now the plane are I have are smaller and I dont want to fly in extream cold anymore, I guess I'm getting old |

I'm with you guys for the choice of GA planes but I want to see little twins too.
Small Twin Otter and KingAir that are very popular GA aircraft and we dont see much in models. Kingair would have to be the old 100 because the new one with the T tail would be too fragile. A Husky with big tundra tires would be nice too |

Well I'm done with the Archer for now until I get the Red paint, then I will go for the light system.
Now I just painted the light clusters and inserted a dead Beacon at the top of the vertical fin. I also made the tail drag tie down hook at the tail and did some weathering. I will also change the white tape under the wing or paint it after the lights are installed. Now its the tuff waitting game to fly it |

!
Absolutely phenomonal work Paul! Looks more like a plastic model for display than it does a flying foamie! I mean, you could put that on a shelf and nobody would know the difference I especially like the tail tie-down as it can double for a tail-skid on those really deep flares....! Don't forget, she'll handle a fair amount of grass, so a closely cut soccer field in the spring wouldn't be outta the question for flying sites. I really like the scale prop details...might have to try that as well...we'll see. Thanks again for sharing the pics; I just knew you'd bring the little Archer to life... BTW gang, I just ordered three of these: http://www.quantumhobby.com/Hyperion...P25C13002S.htm We'll keep y'all posted of any performance increase and the resultant flight times of these batteries. The higher C rating will probably give a little more pep without running the risk of smoking the ESC by using 3S, and I'm hoping that it'll still have the fantastic 2S flight times. Cheers to all my fellow Archers ! John |

Paul, what did you use for the tail tie down?
Clay |

Its from fishing line stuff, I just keep the hooks made a little slot in the foam insert with foam safe CA and then painted white
