It will be running a 20amp esc on 3 cells. Total weight is just under 9oz. My current motor is way to much so I'm searching for a new one but don't really understand all the KV and watt talk. Please help!

Or post up all the dimensions of the plane and its dry weight and we could have a fiddle with the online calcs to give you an idea.

I like the hobby king 24 gr hextronik 1500 kv motor on my 8 oz scratch built FoMoJo 30

It powers my 10-13ozs planes with better than one to one thrust, about 14ozs of thrust on a 3 cell. So for a 9oz plane, it should have enough power to do lots of 3D.
