looks like a nice offering but will it outseat the Ritewing ZII from the top slot

Well I guess I gotta get one of these Storm Chasers now
I'm sure it's in the early stages, but have you experimented with breaking the wings into halves or making the outer portions of the wing removable? I don't think that 72" wing would fit in the trunk of my Ford Edge, and I'm ditching that for something more compact (gas-friendly) soon! Also, just out of sheer curiosity, why the tractor setup on the power pod, vs. pusher? Just a matter of preference, or does that affect flight? |

i like the pod you have done, but having the solid fuse would be the only thing stopping me from ordering one, i still think it will limit the gear you can use, especially if you decide to buy a different fpv set up and the components are different sizes, it means having more cuts in the fuse, thats why i was asking about internal cavity so no matter what fpv gear you have or buy later it can be moved around to suit, again only my own view

I'm not sure how that's much different from a flying wing. The storm chaser is the same way, you could cut small individual bays, and change them as needed (just like a wing), or cut one large bay for it all. It would certainly work, but you'd be compromising the integrity of the core (just like a wing). Maybe a longer narrower slot would be better in the storm chaser.
The reason Lee can't give a single answer, or sell the kit with a bay already cut, is because everyone wants to set their gear up differently, and all their gear weighs different amounts. One of the nice things about foam is you get to customize however you want |

i wasnt asking lee to actually cut a bay, as its still in beta stage i was just offering my small opinion, and seeing as most of the similar planes bixler, easystar ect all have bays, and on the fpv forum they seem to favour this type, and hopefully he will get a lot more different ones to help him develop the plane to final stage, i will be watching to see how the storm chaser ends up,

This plane can take 10 times the abuse of the competition.
You want everything to fit tight with no empty space so it won't crush. It only takes a couple of minutes to customize the plane to what you need and no more. With the large number of batteries and speed controls and servo on the market no bay would ever fit tight. |

What is needed for an FPV plane is ability to carry payload and hang time in the air of at least a half hour
tough ness is nice but it is not a combat bird |

Yeah, the weight of some extreme tape and laminate on the fuselage is an easy trade-off for some great crash insurance, and the storm chaser can still carry a ton of weight, from what I've seen.
Lee, is there an albatross thread already? Maybe the storm chaser should be added to that, or maybe start a new thread? |

My original reaper is so great, I picked up a second at swarm, but I want to try a different power setup. My original has the blue 1400kv motor with 9x6 folding props, running on a single 25-50C 2200mAh 3S. On this next one, I'm going for faster, with at least the same amount of flight time, but preferably more, but still light enough to glide well. Any suggestions? (links would be a bonus)

well after playing with the CG of my reaper and moving things around, I think im getting rid of it. I can't for the life of me get it to fly with out making me stressed out. Sure, it's fast and looks cool but I dont trust it at all. Battery is 9.5" back and did the Elveons trick (1/4") up. Still dives to the ground on glid. I don't get it.......
