I just finished my Electrifly Super Stearman today.

The LHS was sold out on the Rimfire .10 so I picked up a Super Tigre .10. This motor has some very good reviews out there and during initial runs with a 3S1P 1300mah and a 9X6 slow flier APC it pulls with a lot of authority.

Here are the photos. The first photo shows some of the new holes I had to drill to accomodate the Super Tigre .10.

I expect to maiden it this Saturday and will report on the results...

Happy Landings.

Gerry.

Gerry,

Very nice build and I am happy to see that you improvised on another Power System as I do know how badly you want to fly this model.

I will be there on Saturday morning at Moon Port Modelers RC Club ready and willing to take as much pictures and Video of this fine looking model.

Congrats and job well done!

Oh, yes, I really Love that nice touch of having the model staged on top of that Green Rug as it really looks like the model is out doors on the grass field.

don't forget to use differential aileron.it makes the airplane more efficient you can use it on everything but especially biplanes

Good luck I'm gone

The N braces only fit one way. The Tabs that are glued in to hole them are also directional.

This is a bolt together cool looking bipe. It is an honest flyer, like a bipe needs to be. At any size.

Have fun!

This model needs some modifications!

Hi guys!

Well, Gerry came with a big load lump in his pants showing me this and that and I had to keep my big mouth shut and go along as if I would have pushed him, I feared that he would have not maiden his model today

I took Video footage of one very experienced RC modeler who builds the very large 5-Cyclinder radial Engine models that just the Engine costs upwards of $3,000 US. He is familiar with the smaller models as well and came over to provide his honest and sensible recommendations.

After perhaps a few minutes, Gerry came to Life and all of a sudden got this different look and said, "hey I am going to see what this thing does...." I had to quickly grab my Park Zone T-28D Trojan and took out a servo securing Screw so, Gerry could use it in his Super Stearman model as one of his Servos at the servo arm was missing a screw. Next, I insisted for him to use my newest Turnigy 3-Cell, 2200mAH, 25C Discharge, Li-POLYs as they would withstand the higher AMP Draw from the Super Tiger .10 with that high Kv (Note that the RimFire that Great Planes recommends has the same Kv).

Okay, a few pictures and lastly you will find the Video so, go for Full Screen!

Gerry comparing weight from my Great Planes S.E.5a:

Now for the VIDEO!!!!

Summary....

Guys,

I am going to leave it to Gerry (simano) to provide his overall summary of this model now that he had an opportunity to capture all the items (Pluses, and minuses ) from this model and give you what he has planned to make the model a little better for his expectations in keeping it and to be a little more enjoyable for his expectations.

I believe this model is a real looker but, comparing it to the earlier Great Planes Bi-Plane models as you saw in the Video, the fabrication came a little short in providing this model sensibly for light electric flight, in my opinion, if I may say.

Okay, Gerry come over and provide your assessment.

Well, I posted the Video up at FACE BOOK and even posted a copy at TOWER HOBBY page and it was there for about an hour and then, it was DELETED.

I guess TOWER HOBBY does not like anyone to do an Honest Review of their products like NitroPlanes as I have posted many of my Videos up at NITROPLANES page up at FACE BOOK and never have they DELETED anything and as a matter of fact they made me Customer of the Month!

It is just too bad that whomever it is that is representing TOWER HOBBY at FACE BOOK does not feel the same like the "other" large distributor over at NITROPLANES!

Oh, well......

wing loading , and the Super Stearman is listed as 14 - 17 oz/sq"
THATS HEAVY
Yes indeed, wished that my buddy and I looked at the first page of this thread and most especially your findings on comparing wing loadings!!!

Nevertheless, I believe the model is still a great flyer and most importantly allowing a lower Kv motor to propel this model with a slightly larger propeller.

Overall I'm pleased with the results from this morning.

The plane flies very true and has some heft that helps during breezy conditions.

Some observations:

It tends to pitch down when throttle is increased in flight. Not much but enough to be noticed...

When cutting the throttle it glides very well...

The mtoro is pulling around 30 amps wide open...I'll go with a 9X4.7 next to getthat down some.
