Is Interest In Auto Gyro's Declining?

Hello, I have been into RC for many years and into electric aircraft since '06. Looking for something different to tinker with I have been searching the web and looking at this forum. I enjoy building as much as flying so was looking primarily at a kit or even a scratch build. I have a few heli's but have never flown an auto gyro. Probably the closest thing I have is a Gymallow rogallo wing aircraft.

As I have been searching I have gotten a bit discouraged. Many of the links in the sticky's are broken and many of the few companies that sell gyro stuff are out of stock. Has the slow econonmy taken it's toll on the rc autogyor biz or is it just dying on the vine due to declining interest? Or am I just not looking in the right directions?

At least interest in the Durafly is booming, but that would seem to be the only thing booming for autogyros. I have been through that entire thread. It looks like a nice package except for the shipping fee.

People see what they want to see. I don't see a decline, so I'm happy.

I think that the fact that flyingbalsa is out of stock and I'm selling plans and kits for Whirlybird Aviation still is a good sign! I think the popularity of this Durafly Autogyro will also help spark some more interest.
I'm happy and still have emails weekly!

Flying balsa kit

I know that Flying Balsa is waiting on blades.. I know someone who has a MKII kit that is not going to be built soon.. Might be for sale.

For someone who isn't familiar with gyros seeing the companies with no stock could be interpreted as out of biz. It would be nice if they would post a note about expected availability of stock. I know it is difficult to pin down a delivery date of stock but a qualified guess would be better than nothing.

Also do you have a listing somewhere of which kits and plans that you have in stock? I don't find the Whirlybird website to be very informative.

Thanks,

Rick

Edited: I found a listing of plans in your blog. You also mentioned that you have some kits but I didn't see them on your blog. Full time magician hmmmm. I'll bet you can make my Paypal balance disappear.

TADA! I'll send you a PM tonight in regards to prices and kits.

I talked to Mark with flying balsa a couple of days ago and they are hoping to be have the blades back in stock in the next few weeks.

Thanks Jim, but I pulled the trigger on another kit just before your posting.

I got it Rick.....
"....it won't be expensive because of made in china!" Ah....doesn't that make you feel better!

Louis Hu....pictures and price please! I've seen a prototype (autogyro with helicopter canopy), but haven't seen the final product.

Thanks,
Joe

I'll even give you a plug! It looks like a great flying machine! I would buy this in a second if the shipping didn't cost as much as the autogyro itself. Would love to see more videos Louis Hu. What size motor and battery?

Thanks for the info Louis, but as I mentioned I have already ordered a kit. However, please post some pictures and info here as Jodini suggested. The video of the Aero Dragon shows it to be a very nice unit, but probably not an entry level gyro which is my present need.

Thank you
