We'll be bringing an old tv called a 'Deitron'. I found it in the basement at school; I've never heard of the brand before. I fired it up and it works fine; it even has colour. It has video in and antenna connection. No frills but I've put composite video in fine. Its either that or the Panasonic 65" VIErA Full HD 3D Plasma - your choice . BYO video cables of course... anthony |

Good afternoon, good evening, & good night (& thanks)
Well, the 2011 UAV OBC High School Airborne Delivery Challenge has been run and won in fine style. Firstly, congratulations to the winning team, Calamvale Lightning for their win - well done. Your piloting skills and superb aircraft are truly amazing. Well done to Spektrum and the other Aviation High teams for another excellent effort. A big congrats to RDHS and Dickson for getting to Calvert. Tiny, your little UAV proved to be a real contender and had everyone worried, especially when the good drops started happening. Andrew from Dickson, you have possibly the most well mannered young people I have every met. They are a credit to their teachers and your autonomous drop is only going to get better.
Finally, a big thank you to the organisers for all the effort that goes into the event. The students have a wonderful time and appreciate how you help them through some of the technical problems that they have. So for all of us, its back to normal life... ...for at least a couple of days... ...before the planning starts again. I know, I'm a weak man. anthony |

We had a great time ....
I would just like to add to the chorus of thanks to the participants and organisers of the school UAV Outback challenge. Even after the 48 hour train trip with some of the most colourful people in Australia, our students are keen to do it all again next year. The feel of the event is excellent.
Most of our team are in year 12 this year. We will find a way to involve them next year, either in the open team (Canberra UAV) or as university mentors to our students. Thanks to everyone for being nice to the Dickson College "noobs". We can only aspire to have the skill and the knowledge of other teams in the competition. You guys have set the bar very high. Thanks again, Andrew and the Dickson College UAV team. P.S. The TED video has not been posted yet. I'll let you know when it is there. |

It is with great sadness that we inform friends of ARCAA of the passing of Professor Rod Walker.
Rod was the founding Director of ARCAA (2005-2011) and the UAV challenge, please see the link below for more information. http://www.arcaa.aero/news/rod-walker-1969-2011/ http://www.suasnews.com/2011/10/9129...e-passes-away/ In Sadness Mick Molloy |

Thats very sad news.
His vision, as a founder of the OBC, has inspired me over the last few years.... to do, to seek, to learn, to design, to build, to travel, to meet people, and have amazing experiences. All of which would not have happened if it were not for the OBC. As a mark of respect, may I suggest that a memorial trophy be awarded in his name at the UAV Outback Challenge. Roland. |

Thanks Roland a few of us were thinking the same thing about the memorial trophy.
