FLYTahiti,
you are right on on the gravity effect. I purchase 2, did not get to try the first pair, when I got the email to send it back and they had a replacement pair within a week to me. I have both on my S800 pair, one without the Zen and the other is just bare. I do have foam on the landing bar on both. When I retract it seems to be smooth, when I drop the gear, it bouncing on the way down. I tried adding a few rubber band and it helped, but have not gotten it smooth coming down yet. Do you think, it is safe to fly? What should I anticipate when the landing bouncing while it is in flight? KS Quote:

Some info I came across which showed DJI was aware of these problems months ago. Vibrations with props, arms wrong material etc,etc |

Just wanted to check the speed of the S800 and this is a full speed pass it's a lot faster than I thought it was going to be. However I am losing altitude during the pass with the copter at mid throttle. Listen as it passes and let me know if this is the standard sound of the motors or if it appears to be skipping.

Please Read, Please Help..... Please.
Can someone give me some direction here. I'm very frustrated with all of the vibration. It's simply too much money to spend on something that shakes so violently.
I'll by prop adaptors to change to balanced props. I'll by the shrink tubing. I just don't want to be doing all of this work when the shaking and erratic behavior are being caused by the IMU. I'm getting white lights but is that caused by a bad IMU or is it from the shaking of the IMU. How can I find out if it is a bad ESC? My S800 fly's like my F550 before I balanced the motor and props. Simple fix if that is what it is. Has anyone had any luck balancing the CF DJI props? If so how did you do it. Using a laser I was able to determine that my S800 had balanced motors put the props on and then the entire system goes crazy. I'm doing this one motor at the time by the way and I can turn the Throttle all the way up. Sometime it responds and others it doesn't. Is that a bad IMU or is it just that the IMU knows that that motor doesn't need power. I didn't realize I was going to have to be a rocket scientist to figure this stuff out. How do I narrow down to what the real problem is? |

SECRAFT Retracts
Here is my first flight with the retracts on a fully loaded S800..
the vibration of the gear coming down was not as visible as it was when it was benched on the table.
the last retract up and down was most visible but I think it will be okay.. Inputs? KS |

I am presently building a proper machine for my video work and the S800 will be relegated for use as a "tripod in the sky" (straight up and straight down) for shooting stills but only if they can be shot at 1,000th of a second or greater due to the unpredictable nature of the vibration that comes and goes with the S800. It is just not worth shooting video with this thing unless I want to spend a great deal of time in post with Warp Stabilizer. If those of us who bought into this S800 for the convenience of its removable arms were to add up these hours of additional work and frustration, and then divide that time by the amount of time needed to remove and replace the arms on a more traditional Hexa for travel, I think we would agree that it is just not worth it. Not in my experience. This is why I have decided to just cut my loses and move on to something else. There are too many problems with the S800 and I don't see any end in sight. But if you figure it out please let me know |

Something does not appear to be right about your retracts and their operation. How do you have them connected...? Are you using the reccomended BEC....? and FINALLY........ For some reason, they look like they are "Dangling", for lack of a better word. Do you have close up's of how they are installed...? They should go up and down simultaneously. They also look like they are not raising all the way up..... Just some observations of your Video. |
