I suggested 'some' expo and it sounds like that's most likely causing the twitchyness. I had the same experience with 0% on my helis (Compy FP and MX400). My first plane 'experience' was quite scary with 0% expo Try 20-30% just for a start and use 'small' corrections in calm conditions on your next attempt.....at least to you get a feel for the way it handles OH...and another 'caution' ! If you ever cartwheel, remove elevator/rudder arms and check that the wire slips FREELY in the 'snakes' ! Don't ask how I know Flightmax 3S 2650 is on the flat area above wing. |

Awesome Dave... thanks!
I'm headed out for St. Thomas tomorrow... but hopefully the wind will be calmer next week. I really can't wait to ring the snot out of this bird.. I like what I see so far!!! ~ Darren |

I have the pack in the large hole in front. My 3200 mAh battery is too big to fit on top above the wing.
I was wondering if 120% throw with 0% EXPO was going to cause you difficulty on your maiden. I assumed you had a couple rates to choose from and would be fine through by just hitting the rates switch. I am glad that you were able to bring it down safely. I agree with the 20-30% EXPO recommendation that seems to take just enough edge off to make my movements smooth but not so much that I feel disconnected from the plane. |

I added 30%+ expo and put the servo travel at 120%. This brings maximum deflection on the control surfaces, without putting the servos at any bind. I had to use some sub trim a bit, to zero out the incidence in the surfaces, but other than that, they move beautifully. I am not used to flying a plane with control surfaces this large... but, I will get used to it quickly. Static testing on the ground made center stick adjustments more controllable. Thanks for the tip guys... Now to just get the static CG nailed down, and get some wind free (or close to it) days so I can get some air time. I think the Power 10 will be fine with the 12x6e APC whilst I learn her manners in the air. Even all jacked up, I was able to land it safely, without cracking it up. That made me feel good... It's not a good idea to fly on the skid pad in November I think. Same thing almost happened to my Corsair the other day... got video of that one. Cheers! Darren |

my battery is in the hole and it works fine for me. I have no expo on my Futaba and I do not think i will like it neither (I am still young and do not have shake hands, well, most of the time) but at the moment I am flying on 35% on servos (thats O.k for me at the moment), great weather here at the moment, no winds 26/28 deg still, very good for flying, but not to be sat in a office looking out the window and thinking .. reather be flying...............

Here ya go Mate...
This was not too long ago, futzing around on the skid pad. The winds were very gusty, since we are right on the ocean. It's ALWAYS breezy here, and I thought things would be ok. Little did I know, my left landing gear was loose, and caused some issues on landing. I normally hand launch / belly land this bird, but I wanted to try some ROG take off's and landings. At the end, I was trying to do a nice three point landing, missed my touch down spot and was gonna go around. At the moment I started to pull up and add throttle, the Corsair was caught by a nice cross wind / downdraft, and I almost winged it into the ground. I fly with my control surfaces / servos where they have max travel, and I don't have any expo on the Corsair. I fly this plane all the time, so the AcroMaster will take a bit of adjustment. Here's the video... https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...&postcount=184 Cheers! Darren |

It looks like you stalled on the first 2 landings. I used to land like that in the wind. I would recommend landing with a higher air speed. Then if a gust dies down you still have enough air speed to be flying on the wing and come down gently. With my Acromaster and my Precision Aerobatics Extra 260, I try to put them on the ground at around 20 mph or even 25. That takes the wind out of the equation. So, on my neighborhood street where I fly, I drop down to about chest height and fly with speed down to 1/2 of the wing span (where you get extra lift because of the ground effect) and cut the throttle with a little flair. So from the point I get to waist height until I am on the ground takes about 75 - 100 yards. I have not really had wind issues since I have been landing like that. Well, except when I was stupid enough to fly in 25 - 35 MPH winds. But that is another story.... -Mike |

Wow, I can see your battery pack doesn't fit their either! Did you cut back the supports inside the canopy to make room for it so that the canopy can close? Does it fly better there than in the big hole up front?
I have had flaky coupling issues when I fly with light batteries (2200 mAh) in the hole behind the motor. My AM gets very pitchy in KE fliht with the light battery. So I was wondering if move the 2200 mAh battery over the wing if that would solve the coupling issue. -Mike |

I flew it with the pack in the hole, but it was fairly nose heavy. I'm using a 103G Omega motor and the current lipo location is neutral to slightly tail heavy CG. I'll post up some vid I took earlier today Weather was damn near perfect today ! Sunny, 74 and no WIND

Mike,
You are absolutely correct... I did stall it, well... pretty close. The Corsair does not like to slow down all that much, even heading into the wind. It startes rocking it's wings if it gets too slow. What was freaking me out was the cones, trying to keep enough speed to not fall out of the sky, and still miss the cones. Then I figured out that the left landing gear was not locking into the plastic keepers... causing it to get all squirrely. I am having fun, getting experience... and now that I am back from St. Thomas, I hope this weekend lends me some fairly calm flying time. I can't wait to really fly the AM. Dave... nice flying man... that last landing looks exactly how I scuffed my wing on my AM... only I had a butt load of wind gusts to deal with. I won't be flying on the skid pad anymore at lunch... unless it's very calm. Thanks for the pic of the battery location. I'm gonna futz around with mine tomorrow. Cheers Guys!!! Darren |

Have had the Acro flying for a few weeks, about 6 days of going out flying, would like some input from others on landing characteristics in 10k plus winds. I know it is a light foam plane and it is amazing at speed but the landings are trick and the near touch down always up to the wind gods. Any hints out there? No major damage but no flattering landings in the wind when coming in on grass.
