Boo Ray Racer

Thought I'd share a review of a BSD micro Boo-Ray racer I've recently built and fly. This kit used a AR6400 style brick with rudder and elevator. Motor is equivalent to the P51 unit, powered by 70mAh and 120mAh single cell.
The kit was nicely made with the depron parts cut out so cleanly, never knew depron could be laser cut so precisely like that. Everything fit together perfectly. Construction was quick due to the simplicity of the build and clear instructions with photos.
The fuselage sides have notches and tabs to fit to the main frame. Wings had 4 airfoil sections with tabs that locked into the wing sheeting to create the right curvature.
All hardware was included down to the laser cut plywood control horns and prebent z-linkages, CF rods and heat shrink tubings, very nice! I utilized the nearest holes on both control horns to maximize the throws.
I skipped the landing gears because they were not real wheels, just depron profiles, I guess this was meant for indoor gymnasium flying. Just wished there were real wheels so I can takeoff/land on the pavement.
Total weight ready to fly was 21gm.
On to flying. I maiden it on a breezy morning in my culdesac, it was a handful until I had it trimmed out properly. This thing was a lot faster than a night vapor but still got pushed around by the wind a bit. I found the rudder response to the right was not that great in this condition because of the P-factor.
It loved turning left but turning right was somewhat of a struggle. This thing was probably made for indoor flying so I'm sure it would be fine but if you fly it outdoor then i would suggest adding more rudder area like I have done. Subsequent flights after the mod was a lot better in terms of yaw control.
Flight time is around 6-7 minutes with generous throttle, mostly above 60% because of the windy conditions. It's a lot of fun to squeeze in a few flights here and there in your yard, those of you busy with little children will know what I mean.
