Flying Tigers... worst air war movie ever?
I Watched this movie again last night. Most of it at least. But this time I was struck as to how bad it really was.
From the sound mix, to the plot, to the air combat schemes and 'special effects' to some of the acting. I have to admit Mr. Wayne did a good job with what he had. Ive seen alot of 'air war' movies recently and I will have to put this one at the bottom of the list. |

1942, give 'em some slack. Yes, we know that they used P-40 Kittyhawks in the movie, rather than Tommyhawks, but hey

Ive seen other movies from that era that at least did not have that screaming dive motor sound when the planes were landing... LOL

It's been a very long time since I've watched "The Flying Tigers." I don't remember it as being absolutely horrible, for it's time period, but I don't remember much about it period.
Wouldn't one of the candidates for worst "air war movie" be "Pearl Harbor," if it qualifies as an "air war movie." Of course, Pearl Harbor, the event, is pretty much a one-sided naval air attack but I'm not sure what "Pearl Harbor" the movie is, to be honest, other than a waste of time. |

Yeah, all I remember from it is Faith Hill singing. Funny how the mind can block out traumatic events.

To the best of my knowledge, John Wayne only died in:
http://www.funtrivia.com/askft/Question48316.html The Shootist - He is killed in a gunfight in at the end of the film. The Cowboys - He is killed by Bruce Dern's character. The Alamo - Playing Davy Crockett, he is killed by a Mexican soldier's lance. Sands of Iwo Jima - He is killed by a sniper's bullet at the end of the film. Wake of the Red Witch - He dies as the ship sinks. The Fighting Seabees - He is shot by a sniper. Reap the Wild Wind - He is killed by a giant squid. |

Always remember the size of the cockpit they used for filming was sooooooo BIG compared to the actual planes cockpit/canopy! Looked like they could almost stand up and turn around inside !
