Just west of "clubhouse point" along the south edge of Turtle Cove looking to the north east... the little hill on the opposite (north) shore still looks the same today... your pic "*017" is looking right at the spot that the older shot was taken from.

My guess is the photographer was standing in that area, facing north east.

here is a shot I took facing roughly in the same direction as the original- Wish I had a better picture. hill in the background (on the north shore) is the same

Is the stick the guy is holding in the picture from the 30s for changing the rudder direction on the sailboat?

SD,

You 'catch' the boat's bow with the stick, turn it back out toward the water and push it off. Check out the pic of current freesailors that I have posted elsewhere...

Rudder and sail settings are changed at the end of each run to reflect whether the boat is sailing with or into the wind.

I am trying to find where I found it !

I had been searching for info on Berkeley models, found a New York pond yacht site that had this pic and another of Berkeley Marina pond yachting, all circa 1930...

I will keep looking ( maybe you or Aerominded know EXACTLY the model yachting society site in NY that I had seen ) ...
