R2Hobbies Deep-vee Arowana Vs. Mini Cat velocity Mono

OK,
I want a small RC boat for a small 3 acre pond outside of my office. I think I have narrowed it down to one of these? I really want the Mini-cat Velocity mono
http://www.minicatracingusa.com/vmono.html
Then I saw this, http://r2hobbies.com/eng/proddetail....bt0401002_code
Which one of these would be better? OR do one of you know of a better small boat to run? I have played around with a Supervee 27 but it is just a tad too big for this lake, I was thinking one of these would be perfect.
I would LOVE to buy a used one in good shape as well if anyone has one available.

If the SV27 is too big, I would think a nicely set up 22" Arrowana would be too big/fast as well. I would go for the minicat, or something that's a similar size.

If you're up for building something, I would suggest this:

http://zippkits.com/~zippkits/index....roducts_id=263

They run about 40mph on cheap electronics. You can build one including tx/rx, battery, charger, prop, etc etc etc for under $200 if you use the recommended parts.

Yea the velocity mono is a ton of fun! I have the knockoff version which has a crappy stock ESC that you'll need to replace, but the hull, motor, and hardware are fine.

arowana

One above is it. The small mono is overpowered unless you put a smaller motor in it. Now its your take and what you like and set like the bouncing around while the other boat is smooth and can handle in the video better.----**** zipp kits need more room than you have available, like you said 3 acres. I run my 22" monos in a pond just aliitle bigger than the bottom video and is right size for Arowana 22.5 . Suggestion is a 28 45 2700 on 2s or 3s with a 632 with a 4500 lipo on a 60 amp esc. The boat mentioned uses 1 lipo on the left side and if it were me i would use my suggestion. I wouldn't change the equipment presently in boat. I got the 2700 from Leadershobbies.com. This is suggestion only and i stand by it. I made a wooden boat called Electrafied but cut the nose of so it is 19" with the suggestion above on 3s and rode flat as a pancake and turned on a dime with twin turn fins and no trim tabs. These are facts and above is a suggestion. I have alot of boats and most run a Turnigy 36 40 05 3900 on 2s.

send me a link to the knock off? I ca n always replace the esc later if it's a lot cheaper? is the motor, servo, hull exactly the same or is it a thinner hull too? if it's just the differance of a cheaper ESC and servo I can live with that, if it's a thinner hull Ill go with a real mini cat. I was supposed to buy Tw3ns Mini cat mono for $145 but someone offered more than asking price to buy out from under me, I don't blame him though, it was more money. Now I really want one since I thought I was buying one. I mainly fly quads, helis and planes but with a lake outside everyday I reaZipp, what other 20" and smaller boats are out there?

There's also the HK small bolt, runs great on 3s 2200mah packs and they're reasonably priced (about $100, just needs tx/rx and battery).

Man , I can't believe that is an exceed! it is bigger than I was wanting, I really want a 18" or so since my lake is 3 acres with an Island in the middle this may be TOO fast. The price is pretty good though, Nice boat. If it was just a few inches smaller I would jump on it, I'mm gonna keepit on my list for sure though, thanks scorpion.

Bidproduct.com had them for $120 with free shipping, but it looks like they're out of stock. The "knockoff" boat is called the Joysway Offshore Warrior. Maybe you could find one on EBay.

I can't picture how big 3 acres is, but you don't need much room at all for the mini sprint:

JAE Mini Sprint (1 min 18 sec)

*edit* - is 3 acres smaller than this pond?

HK Small Bolt (2 min 28 sec)

That's a stock HK Small Bolt with an x632 prop on 3s2200mah.

I just got a DF Sniper23 yesterday. Looks pretty cool, I picked it up used from OSE swap shop. It's 23" similar size to the one scorp posted with a 380 tacon. I forget the kv, i haven't tore the boat down yet. Looks real good though.

about the same I think, I like the small bolt, I like the look of mono hulls better though. I think I might grab a small bolt if it wasn't a little overpriced. Ide rather have the mini cat for over $200. The dragon boats look really nice too but what about parts for them? who make their hardware , shafts and where could I get more? man I wish I would have gotten that velocity mono when I had the chance for $145 I want it bad now Any other links/suggections?
This is me driving the Aquacraft Supervee 27 on our lake, I never really could get it up to top speed good because of the size with the island, that's why I was thinking of the Mini cat velocity mono. This will give you a better idea of what 3 acres is.

Driving the Supervee 27 RC boat at my office on the Stewart Perry Campus lake (2 min 15 sec)
