About the battery issue. The only difference I've noticed with the 900mah batteries is that you can fly continuously for about 3 minutes longer (using 80% of the charge as recommended) which seems to be enough to heat the motor up considerably. If you are doing landings and takeoffs (or retrieving the crashed copter ), then I don't think it overheats, it really takes the continuous running. If I stop flying at five minutes (the normal time for the 650mah battery), it's only warm to the touch but it's still been using the 900mah battery. I'm not really worried about it, the stock motors are cheap but I think I'd like to follow in Mick's footsteps and upgrade the motor, have to see how me makes out.
I'm curious as to what happens at the back end of the copter when using an upgraded main motor. That tail rotor motor isn't all that strong to begin with, if you end up with more torque at the main motor, it may not have the necessary force to stabilizer the heli, especially after some flying time when it seems to get weaker anyway. Wonder if there is an upgraded tail motor available? My wife asked me last night why I didn't just buy a "better" unit rather than upgrading mine. Told her that I'd then just be "upgrading" the better one with parts that are even more expensive. She indicated that she may not yet completely understand me after thirty years of marriage . |

Thanks for all of the birthday wishes much apretiated.
Yes its quite daunting the rotors are 60cm QS 8006 It had it's first flight today I had fun with getting used of the rudder being on the right side and kept trying to use the left stick to turn but apart from that it went very well. The only trim you have is rudder trim wich is strange but the gyro dose all of the work for you and they have done a remarkable job with it. It acts very much like a heading hold gyro and makes the heli very stable even in a light wind. All they need to do with this model is to make it a 4ch and then have another one in a 4ch fixed pitch and I would say they would sell allot of them. Then to top off my birthday my other daughter turned up with my pessent and it was yet another helicopter Woohoo Rapid Z 4ch I was in heli heaven I later found out that while I was talking to my wife about the helis that I liked she was secretly feeding the info to them unknown to me the cheeky things. Then the wife brought in her pessent it was my Titain 450 Pro Carbon Now I had realy died and gone to heli heaven I also got some training gear for all of the heli's and an Imax ballance charger and a 6ch r/c control unit for the r/c simulator. It was the best birthday I have ever had. |

Whizgig, if you don't mind, photos of the electronics boards and swashplates with links to blades.
Found a video of a guy adding a battery in the QS-8006 and has the insides exposed. Mostly aluminum with a minimum of plastic. The DS9116 and DS9104 can take extreme abuse (built to be crashed) and the QS-8006 looks the same. Fantastic airframes. |

She is very sterdy and crash safe as are the DH heli's not to mention she weighs 1.2kg so flight is sort of slow compared to the DH 9116 which weighs only 250g but she can still get up some decent speed in flight considering her size. |

Thats quite a haul you got Eugene,
You'll soon be up to my collection level of 8 heli's. I just got word, that my 2 new extra 900mAh Li-Po's are on their way from china, and so are the two Xtreme Pro 180 motors from the U.S.A. All I need now is the heatsinks to be on their way and I'll be set. I've also got some 9116 parts coming from china, like a new pcb (just in case) 4 more OEM motors (2 from china and 2 from the U.S), 2 decorative bar sets, and 1 nose, tail tube fixed (part 9116-16) set. From my estimates, we may need some more motors, so I thought I'd stockpile them, and if you aussie guys need one in an emergency, like Eugene, I'm sure we work out some sort of renumeration deal. Got my Turnigy Heli Blade, Plane Prop and EDF Tacho today, so I can check to see if the new motor gives me any extra revs than the standard motor. I also got a Turnigy Anenometer (wind speed measurer). Tom 4416, I too have noticed the extra heat from the motor on full flights, hence my thoughts on getting a heatsink on the motor. Whether I use it on the standard motor or the new Xtreme Pro 180 motors, it will help to lengthen the service life of both motors. I doubt the new motors will be a performance upgrade as such, as the motor speed is governed by the ESC, but that is just a guess, the new tacho will tell me whether that will be true or not. It's more of a better quality motor that may last longer than the OEM motors, and at the price they are selling them, they'd better last longer, or I'll be back to buying more OEM motors. Speaking of new motors, did you get that new 9116 motor I sent, today, Eugene? it should be pretty close by now. Aussietom, You should have your parcel by now, if not, it'll definately be monday. |

That Titan 450 Pro Carbon will keep you occupied for quite a while. I hope your credit card is healthy 'cause the replacement parts might get a bit exy.

No motor hasn't come today it should be here by monday, did you get the disks I sent you? Yeh at the cost of those new motors they would want to last longer at least 4x longer, and with the heat sink even more. You are realy getting into checking out these motors with all the new gear you have brought to test them with. Actualy I had a look at allot of the parts for the 450 and they were quite reasonable considering as long as you shop around on ebay ect. Nice heli and you can put the new 180 motors and a 900ma battery in it as well as being a decent price and a good size. I have always liked the look of the MD500's. |

yeah, I noticed it takes the 180 motors (8T pinion) and a 7.4v 600mAh li-po. Looks like some parts are very similar to the 9116, the main blades are almost identical, except they are white.
http://www.rchobbyhelicopter.com/sto...licopter_Parts nah, the disc's didn't come yet either, probably monday as well. I'm just curious about how to do performance upgrades and whether they will work or not, and whether the extra expence is warranted. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/280519787...84.m1439.l2649 The tacho itself was reasonably cheap, $24.00aud with free postage I just used the tacho on my Xieda 9958 and at full rotor speed it gets up to 690rpm, which isn't bad for a little bird like that. I'll check out what the 9116 does tomorrow. |
