Question
How similar are Turnigy, SK3, and NTM motors?
Trying to compare the motor options over there at HK. Made a chart with Size, Amps, Watts, Weight, and price.
Very surprised the price of the regular orange Turnigy motor is within dollars of the same sized NTM motor. I do see the NTM lacks hardware. But thats only an addition 2 bucks. The SK3 motors seems to have a larger shaft yet weigh less. With the larger shaft i see them as the superior built motor. But again the price of the SK3 compared to the regular orange Turnigy motor is not that different. This is in the 35-30 to 35-36 sizes. So guess my questions are why are the orange motors pretty much the same price as the NTM? When you compare the added efficiency of the SK3 motor does that actually become the best value? In terms of money spent to power made? |

Dr Kiwi has done all the hard work as usual.
NTM 3530-1400KV SK3 3530-1340KV Also http://bungymania.com I have the NTM 3530-1100KV and it is quite well made but seems less robust than the old SK 3530. I have pushed this motor to 300W but the calculated efficiency is only 58% at this power. |

Dr. Kiwi Data. The best Is SK3. SK3 to 25A, 9x5, 11,233 rpm, 267.4 watts in, 192.9 watts out. 75 thermal watts NTM to 26.5, 9x5, 11,233 rpm, 285.1 watts in, 193.1 watts out. 92 thermal watts. Manuel V. |

Wopachop.
three curves on motor. Continuous is for the NTM motor. segmented is for SK3 motor. Green for efficiency, Red for watts out, Blue for RPM. In the green dots shows us the engine performance for a given voltage and proppeller. The SK3 shows better efficiency in the same power level. about 3 points more. Manuel V. |
