The ALL-NEW E-flite F-14 Tomcat Twin 40mm EDF - The Practical TOPGUN Tomcat!The E-flite® F-14 Tomcat Twin 40mm EDF
See more info below and on the product page here: https://www.horizonhobby.com/product.../EFL01450.html Introduction GRADUATE “TOPGUN” WITH FLYING COLORS With the E-flite® F-14 Tomcat Twin 40mm EDF (Electric Ducted Fan) jet, more pilots can enjoy flying a replica of the iconic fighter than ever before! Developed for the U.S. Navy, the Grumman F-14 Tomcat made its first deployment in 1974 aboard the USS Enterprise, replacing the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II. This E-flite model is based on the F-14D Super Tomcat variant and the factory-applied finish pays homage to Strike Fighter Squadron 2 (VFA-2), also known as the famous “Bounty Hunters”. During its 2002-2003 deployment — the final cruise with the Tomcat — VF-2 participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom flying reconnaissance, close air support, CAP and strike missions. The F-14 Tomcat Twin 40mm EDF recreates the VF-2 fighter down to the functional variable-sweep wings and full-flying stabs to deliver an authentic and unique flying experience. It’s scaled to be practical for more pilots to fly and afford because it’s compatible with popular 4S 2200mAh batteries. Plus it’s equipped with exclusive AS3X® and optional-use SAFE® Select technologies — making it easier to fly than any other TOPGUN Tomcat EDF model yet! Overview THE MOST PRACTICAL F-14 EDF YET Many RC pilots have dreamed of flying an F-14 one day — and the E-flite® F-14 Tomcat Twin 40mm EDF makes that dream a reality! It arrives fully-assembled and nearly ready to fly right out of the box including a factory-installed receiver with exclusive Spektrum™ AS3X® and optional-use SAFE® Select technologies. It’s ready to bind to your 6+ channel DSMX®/DMS2® equipped computer transmitter, plus you’ll receive real-time telemetry data including battery voltage, current, motor RPM and more via compatible Spektrum AirWare™ equipped radios. The twin 40mm fans and brushless outrunner motors are compatible with affordable and common 4S 2200mAh 30+C batteries to deliver an excellent blend of performance and flight times. Full-flying stabs and functional 3-position variable-sweep wings deliver an incomparable flying experience you can’t get anywhere else. The fully-molded EPO airframe is durable, lightweight, and factory-finished to pay tribute to the U.S. Navy’s VF-2 “Bounty Hunters” squadron. The fixed landing gear plus steerable nose wheel makes it easy to taxi, takeoff and land on smooth surfaces — or remove the landing gear for more speed and vertical performance when hand launching over and landing on grass. With the F-14 Tomcat Twin 40mm EDF you’re closer to being a TOPGUN than ever before! Bind-N-Fly® Completion Level Advantage Already own a Spektrum™ transmitter? Bind-N-Fly® (BNF) aircraft make getting into the air quickly and with the best control experience possible easier than ever. They come out of the box with the power system, servos and a Spektrum™ 2.4GHz receiver installed so all you need to do is bind the receiver to a compatible transmitter, finish any final assembly, and fly! Exclusive Technologies This is the first F-14 Tomcat model equipped with exclusive Spektrum™ AS3X® and SAFE® Select technologies. AS3X works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence to deliver a locked-in feel that makes it seem like you're flying a much larger airplane. Optional-use SAFE Select offers pitch and bank angle limits along with automatic self-leveling that can be turned on and off at the flip of a switch to make this an easier to fly Tomcat! Telemetry Capability The F-14 Tomcat Twin 40mm EDF is equipped with a control unit including a receiver and ESCs that provide a variety of real-time power system related telemetry data including motor RPM, current, battery voltage and more to compatible Spektrum™ AirWare™ equipped transmitters (including the DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/3 and 8 G2, the DX9, NX6, 8 and 10, iX12™, iX20™ and others) while you fly. High Power EDFs The factory-installed brushless power systems feature 40mm fans with high RPM outrunner motors. This twin power system setup is designed to deliver excellent performance with popular 4S 2200mAh 30+C batteries. Functional Features The full-flying stabs offer crisp and precise taileron control, and along with the functional 3-position variable sweep wings, deliver an authentic and unique F-14 flying experience. Gear Options You can use the included fixed landing gear with steerable nose wheel to taxi, take off and land on smooth surfaces. Or you can leave the landing gear off for more speed and vertical performance when hand launching over and landing on grass. Durable Design Construction with fully molded EPO material makes it possible to replicate complex details and shapes in a lightweight yet durable form. The result is an outstanding scale appearance that's easy to maintain and delivers the best possible flight experience. Fully Factory-Assembled The F-14 Tomcat Twin 40mm EDF arrives 100% factory-assembled and nearly ready to fly right out of the box! It’s equipped with industry-leading Spektrum™ 2.4GHz technology that binds to your 6+ channel DSMX®/DSM2® equipped computer transmitter. Unique Trim Scheme The factory-applied paint and decal finish pays tribute to the U.S. Navy’s VF-2 “Bounty Hunters” squadron so you’ll be proud to show off your model everywhere you go. Bind-N-Fly® Completion Level Advantage Already own a Spektrum™ transmitter? Bind-N-Fly (BNF) aircraft make getting into the air quickly and with the best control experience possible easier than ever. They come out of the box with the power system, servos and a Spektrum 2.4GHz receiver installed so all you need to do is bind the receiver to a compatible transmitter, finish any final assembly and fly! This Bind-N-Fly Basic model is equipped with a Spektrum 2.4GHz DSMX® receiver featuring AS3X® (Artificial Stabilization–3-aXis) technology that works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence so you enjoy a sense of stability and precision that makes it feel like you're flying a much larger, expertly tuned aircraft. If this is your first model of its type, or you want an extra margin of safety while familiarizing yourself with the airplane, you can enable the optional-use SAFE® Select flight envelope protection technology built into the receiver. No programming is required. With SAFE Select enabled, you get: Pitch and Bank Angle Limits • These envelope limits keep the airplane from rolling or pitching upside down. They also prevent excessive climb or dive angles. Automatic Self-Leveling • The airplane instantly returns to and holds level flight when the sticks are released and in the center position. It’s also helpful for keeping the wings level during takeoffs/launches and landings. Easy Switch Assignment—No Complex Programming Required • The simple procedure for assigning a transmitter switch to turn SAFE Select features on and off doesn't require any complex programming and takes just a few seconds. Edited on 8/17/23: For those who haven't seen it yet, we designed and built another model around the 4S 2200mAh battery compatible twin 40mm EDF power system used in the F-14...and this time it's an SR-71 See more details in the official thread here: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...-Twin-40mm-EDF Also, as noted in the thread for the SR-71, we were able to release that at $249.99 versus $269.99 and we just lowered the price on the F-14 from $299.99 to $269.99 earlier this week (on 8/15/23) due to lower container shipping costs resulting in much lower "landed" costs for follow up shipments! This video shows how to PROPERLY hand launch the F-14 with ease (there are two launches shown, one around the 5:00 mark and the other around the 6:45 mark):

I am beyond excited for this one! I have been dreaming for years for a Tomcat that was a good fit for me. From what is written above, I think this is going to be it! I haven't been this excited for a RC plane in a long time, probably because my all time favorite aircraft is the F-14 Tomcat.

Ok this was worth the wait! Now to find out how soon they come in to shops in Canada! I am loving my 64mm f15 but that is one fan so this twin 40mm should be comparable in size and performance? Excellent looks like it takes the 2200s I have lots!
Wonder the price, maybe won't be too steep with no ailerons on wings just tailerons, elevons whatever you call them? Will be great for belly landing just have to figure out how to protect the nose but my f15 is fine allowing gntle high alpha landings..... |
