A man with too many toys
Does it come in an ARF version for us IC engine guys. I never trust those cheap servos. That's the first thing I would toss. If not why is it in this forum?

Just does not sonnd right with an electric motor - LOL
I wonder if a small radial engine would work. I wonder if the landing gear is strong enough to take the weight?

I really need the wing area to do some calculations. Anyone have the wing area for a 60" Stearman?

.

Any thought on an appropriate engine?

If you had one what would you link to power it with?

Bitgo responded...

Upper wing: 30 dm2

Lower wing: 35 dm2

1 dm2 = 0.01 m2

Morning, the landing gear needs shock absorbers, softer and slightly larger tires, just really sounds stiff and rattliey on the runway.
Kinda like it's more toy than higher end hobby gear.

IC would definitely be the right power for this plane,

Another few questions, did you check the decalage of the wings?
Is it around 3 ° pos. for the lower and 1 ° pos. for the upper?

How about the horizontal stab incidence angle?

The reason I'm asking is that other PT-17 Stearman's have had these issues, maybe other golden era bipes as well.

That's about 989.5 sq"

20CC engine might work.

Go watch the guy's other videos,, same sound,,, looks like a rough runway issue, other planes make the same type noise

I watched the flight,,, looks like it flies right and straight,,, what makes you think something is wrong with the incidences?

I had a Royal PT-17, same size,, the only quirk came when you went too fast it would climb crazy and pitch,, learned fast to fly slow and smooth like the plane was designed to fly

How are the wings removed for transport? Looks like you need to unfasten the flying wires.

Manual shows the process,, https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/05...f?v=1634272061

Looks the the top center section stays attached and they give you a jig to hold the halves together,, but yes,, you have to unclip the wires,, they are just clevises, so it looks relatively easy

My Royal was the same size,, it fit in my truck with the cap/camper shell diagonally with the wings still on,, food for thought
