These 2207-2600 gold cobras are the strongest motors I've flown . i really want to see what kind of speeds they can produce.

Just ran some numbers quickly on my phone and assuming the battery sags to 13V then the tip speed could be around Mach 0.78. That's assuming no other losses though so it's unlikely to be that fast, but anything above Mach 0.65 could give compressibility issues. Also the forward going prop will be having an extra 100mph airspeed as well.
It could well be that this all limits the thrust of the 6 inch as the drag on the prop will increase hugely along with the amp draw.
In theory anyway...

You all seen this new Unify Pro and X4rSB or XM+ RX mounting boards? Made by WhitenoiseFPV. Looks pretty slick how everything solders directly to the board on each side. Pretty freakin cool.

Bardwell did a video on it a few weeks back. Pretty slick for Taranis users

I am planning to give my 5" ALien an update...

Right now I am running:
LittleBee 12A ESC
Cobra 2204 2300kv
Lumenier Lux F3 FC with Betaflight 3.1.x
HQ Props 5x4x3
Tattu 1300mAh 4S

Now I would like to upgrade the motors and the ESCs.

My reseaches on http://www.miniquadtestbench.com brought me to the idea, that one of those motors should be OK:

Emax RS2306 2400KV: http://www.miniquadtestbench.com/ema...06-2400kv.html
Returner R4 2206 2300 KV: http://www.miniquadtestbench.com/hyp...06-2300kv.html
ZMX Fusion X25 2300kV: http://www.miniquadtestbench.com/zmx...06-2300kv.html

For the ESC I figured out the following alternatives:
Kiss 24A
Aikon 30A V3

What would you recommend as ideal setup for mainly freestyle and a little bit of racing (not competetive)? Props and Lipos shall stay the same. If there are better alternatives than I figured out please let me know.

Thank you very much!!

Best regards,

Christian

I would get the EFAW 2407's if I was looking at a new motor. Extremely efficient and preliminary bench results show some great numbers.

If you choose the Kiss 24As be especially considerate on what props you use. You'll want to pull no more than ~31As in the static prop tests for whatever motor you choose to be safe. Constantly hitting the current limiter will greatly reduce the life expectancy of the 24As. Some people have had good luck, some not so much running these bigger stator motors.
I will say tho that hopefully sooner than later there will be a new Kiss ESC with higher current specs. It's being designed with higher amp rating, perfect for these new motors.
Flyduino actually posted a disclaimer about all of this new motor tech, and they pointed out that the Returner R4 was one of one's that people were having problems with burning ESCs because the amp draw was too great. If done right tho, many have been getting away with running these newer motors... And the HQ5x4x3s seem to be the best all around prop to use.

If I buy a new set of ESCs I do not want to risk that they burn...

What ESC would you recommend (especially in combination with Betaflight)?

Thank you!

Im also planning on updating my alien and I am going for the returner r4 2300kv motors with spedix 25a escs . I have been put off the emax rs2306 because the magnets seem to slip (its already happened twice to G3R FPV and he's only been running them two weeks) and they are a bit heavy. I would pick the returners cause they are pretty light, have decent power and don't murder lipos (and they seem to be reliable). My main reason I would pick the spedix escs is cause they are really cheap and they seem to be working well on a friend's quad with some rs2205s motors.

The TBS bulletproof 25a are another good option but are a bit more expensive and should perform better but I doubt that I could tell the difference in flight performance between them.

That's good to hear. I'm building up a quad now with the R4s and TBS 25A ESCs. I got the TBS ESCs on the Xmas special, 10 for $100. Can't beat that. Unfortunately, one of the R4s shipped with a bad bearing. GetFPV is swapping it out I love their customer service), but I haven't had a chance to fly the quad yet. The R4s are light. I ended up with roughly 30mm wires, and I think weight was 28.2g with no hardware. I think I'd prefer a C-clip over the bolt to hold it together, but hopefully won't have to face that issue for a while. Except for the one with the bad bearing, they seem silky smooth.

What do you think is the advantage of the tbs ESC over the aikon? Right now the Aikon has 30A and is cheaper.

Nice. I also went from cobra 2204's to now Returner 2206 R4's. Never looked back, great motor with lots of torque.
Alien gets new gear (3 min 8 sec)

As for ESC's I chose the DYS XSD 30A

Providing your tune is solid without oscillations you should be fine on the kiss 24a esc. It's the bad tunes/oscillations that make ESC's work overtime.

If you're running Betaflight, I'd run Aikon 30A, Cicada 30A or Spedix IS30. All great ESCs. I like and fly KISS24A, but with a KISS FC. All those ESCs I mentioned would do fine with the newer motors. Also, keep in mind that you said the batteries will stay the same. All those new motors you mentioned kill standard 1300mah Lipos. You'll need Graphenes, or R-Line like batteries if you're going to fly 1300, or go up to 1500.

Also consider V1S 3 or 4 blade, as well as DAL Cyclone. All great props.

Personally I am finding it hard to tune with the Cyclone 5046's on 5s, any thoughts that might assist my tuning?
