SJCAM SJ7 Star Sony IMX117 Real 4K Ambarella A12 Cam - Coming Soon

Hello Guys,

We just posted a thread regarding the SJCAM SJ6 Legend. The SJCAM SJ7 Star will release in around 1-2 months (around 1 month after the SJ6).

I am waiting for my sample unit but it should be ready in 2 weeks.

Here are some specs:

Image Sensor:
SJCAM SJ7 Star uses a 12 MP Sony Sensor (IMX117), the same sensor used in GoPro Hero 4 black.

The SJ6 Legend features a 16 MP Panasonic sensor, but is not capable of native 4K recording.

Chipset:
Chipset will be an Ambarella A12.

The main difference of these two SJ6 and the SJ7 Star is 4K resolution video recording. While SJCAM SJ7 Star is capable of real, native 4K resolution recording, SJ6 Legend is recording interpolated 4K. This is SJCAM’s first native 4K action camera.

In addition, the body of SJ7 is made of metal, whereas SJ6’s boy is made of plastic. Both cameras feature a 2.0″ Touch Screen's and can be hooked up with an external microphone.

Here are some of the SJ7 Hot-Spots:
- Ambarella A12-S75 Chipset
- 4K @ 30fps, 2K @ 60fps
- 16MP Sony IMX117 Lens (Same as GoPro 2)
- Aluminum Alloy Housing
- Gyro Stabilization
- 2.0" Touch Screen
- Adjustable FOV
- SlowMotion
- External Mic Supported (Sold separately)
- 2.4ghz Wireless Remote Supported (Sold separately)
- Upgraded 1000mah long-life battery
- All-New SJCAM App for Android and IOS

If you are looking for SJ6 legend information, take a look at my other thread.

Yes, I am pretty sure it is. Again, I will have the unit in my hands in around 3 weeks so will not be able to confirm the final sensor until prototype arrives

By the declared hardware, my guess is that it will cost over 200$, probably 250$ with accessories. It has the same platform as the Yi2 and that is 250$ without accessories.

Yes, you were pretty close. It will actually be $199. So just a tad bit lower than your lowest guess and quite a bit lower than the competition with similar configurations.
