A little flying with my Afriel. I`m just a "sunday" flier, but must say that Andycap has done a very well flying model. The first indoor plane I comfortebly does knife edge loopings with. It feels like it`s on rails!!

Thank you Andy!

First F3P plane

Here's my Afriel Evo, ~860mm wingspan.

Turned out a bit portly, even with 2mm Depron Aero. Couldn't follow plans exactly, but did the best I could, with available materials. ~136grams all-up without battery.

Confirmed my belief that I'm just a lousy pilot, this is too much plane for me, at least in our indoor space. I'm going to step back for a while and practice more on other planes, before I destroy all this work.

A few of the many things I learned: Using good servos is a treat, been using cheap stuff until this build. Love the shrink-tube control rod connections, solid and super slop-free. Need proper carbon-fiber hardware, light-ply just doesn't cut it at this level. Really good batteries necessary to provide enough power without being too heavy. Too much glue = too much weight.

Many thanks to AndyCap for such a great plane, free plans, and EXCELLENT build instructions.

Nice work Glen 136g isnt a bad weight at all considering 2mm depron is only a couple fo grams lighter than 3mm depron. Connor flies his Afriel Evo at 185g! does have some pretty meaty servos and an axi race though. Even so its still happy in a single basketball court

Thinking about to start to build Morback F3P. Already have material and carbon. Can anybody suggest what kind of motor, ESC, batteries and servos the best choice for this model? About the servos I can imagine that it should be something like 5 grams, ESC approx. 10A, but what about the motor, battery and prop?

Thanks in advance

I'm building the index from the first post out of 6mm depron. I'm going to be flying outdoors and need a motor suggestion. I don't really understand the weight and kv mixture that I would need. I'm assuming the the plane will be around 9-12oz flying weight. I'm also using a 3cell. Also are there any changes to the design that I should make?

Hello EPPers!

2 or 3 years ago I re-sized and 'tiled' a number of plans including the Afriel which was a great plane. I've been flying F3A mostly but want to build some new Epp's. Are there any favourites out there? Also if you have a rough design, I more than happy to draw it up for you to put on the list.

All the best
Dylan

Daniel, fantastic flight!

That rudder certainly kicks in. The thing I love about this design is the simplicity, no canalizer or additional vertical surfaces. Granted, it does speed up a little on down lines, (maybe brake the ESC?) but the cleaner the better and you've done a great job. Tell me, does the airbrushing put on much weight? Cheers Dylan
