OK,time to put my X on the switch and get used to it....is it best to put it on a click or momentary switch?

I don't have a great deal of experience. I put my Enigma on a momentary switch because the F5B guys "wouldn't let me" do it any other way (Right Eric?).
So that's how I set up the X as well. It was easier to get used to than I expected. On of the up sides is that it frees up your throttle to be a true Landing Mode flap/crow stick. |

What could happen if throttlestick is used, like 40% power, 2-3 seconds, then hit 100%, I know the esc is getting hotter, but would really 2-3 seconds make it burn up ?

If you have a 200A setup, and you have a 100A ESC, then you should be able to run at 50% throttle without issue, right? The problem is when you're at 75%, the FETs have to dissipate a great deal more power than they do when at WOT. It may not make sense, but the easiest condition for the FET's is WOT. My setup draws 160A, and I'm using a CC125, so I doubt I'd have much issue using the throttle. But it's nice having the throttle stick setup for Landing mode so I have full variable flaps/crow. |

Sebbe,
On my radiant I use a 50% mix so that when i hit the throttle on launch I have only ~half the power. That's a 260-270 amp draw on a 200amp $20 esc and it lives. You will be fine using half throttle to launch in my opinion. Disclaimer: I burnt up my X esc on the weekend |

Folks just get used to it. I threw my "former" 2Kw 2,5kg ship myself for maidenflight. Full throttle and off she goes. This happens so fast you won't have time to think. Look at drices throw bam and off she goes. No deal at all.
PS: If you still look for a cheapo alternative for the ICE 100 lite look at this : http://www.himodel.com/electric/ICE_...0A-ICE_SB.html Gert Jan tested it to about 300A Peak and it held up. It's kinda lightweight and small give it a shot before waisting money on Kontronik ESC's |
