Asp Fs61

I have a ASP four stoke 61 thats about 6yrs old and runs great but has very little power compaired to a 45 two stoke in the same plane. The diffence between the two is big. I have not done a rpm check, don't have a tach yet.
I have set the valves with no luck. I have read that on the magnum 70 4 stoke that the valve springs get weak and need replacing. Wonder if thats whats wrong with the 61. Anyone had this problem with the 61?
Forgot to add its had about 3/4 gal of 15% fuel run though it.

Maybe everything is ok with your engine,
but how it performs in a particular combo depends on many factors., like what prop you are using, type of a plane etc. They have slightly less power than 40size abc's but in a turn they can efectively spin bigger props and even produce more static thrust.
So, provide more info- what plane, weight, prop size and rpm # ?

40 size profile plane @ 6lbs
magnum pro 45 w/10x6 apc prop
asp fs61 w/12x6 apc prop

asp has just enough power to fly the profile
magnum is very, very fast.

I would say the magnum has about 1/3 more power.
Does not seem right to me.

No tach for rpm's

Harold, if you want speed, stay with the Magnum. The 12x6 prop you have on your engine is adequate for it, as it will give you more thrust, good for pulling power, hovering and similar manouvers.
I would check the timing on the camshaft, maybe it is one tooth out of place, and use no more than 10% nitro, as these ASPs prefer low nitro fuel.
Are you using full synthetic fuel? If so, the engine will need more time to properly break-in.

I've been running 15% cool power. Does not say what kind of oil or amount on the jug. Could not find any info on there web site.
I'll check the cam settings. As I said before the engine runs great, just not much power. Works good for a 40 size floater like a cadet senior.
