There is also always the possibility of a bad motor. A flying friend of mine who just acquired my X250 had trouble getting it to fly well and we eventually discovered that the motor was 'not hitting on all three cylinders'. One of the motor poles went open and it would start and run but was low on power. This was a new motor with only a half dozen or so flights and no visible signs of abuse. Swapped in a good used motor today and it appears to be back to its good 'ol self.
Even a brand new motor can be a dud. Be sure to check that possibility too.
