---------Speed!!---------
I still lurk around.

Gadget,

I am always here to pic my brain on whatever. I am still running my same mills with some additions like a 5 axis table on my manual mill.

Oh, remember, many of my upgrades will not work on a direct drive setup like that heli. But, many still will.

Aragon,

I will always be able to make parts for the Corona. Heck, I still have swashes in stock and tons of CP parts.

I still have more posts than you!

Matt

I posted this in the other Funcopter thread under Mini Heli's section. I have always wanted a Corona (rare as rocking horse s#*t here in Aus) and had posted on here recently that they should have licenced out production or had the Corona manufactured OS to lower costs.

There has simply been nothing in the market since the demise of the Litemachines heli's and this, combined with the 'high' price for the Corona has basically forced beginers to use the various Walkera's (4, 4#1, 4G1) , Esky Honey Bees as learner machines even though they are reasonably fragile and more unstable compared to a larger heli. It also follows, that most soon begin to mod these machines with DD tails, seperates and then move on to the belt drive tail options like Compy's, Guru-Z's and Freestyle-Hobby belt tail mod's.

I for one am stoked that Multiplex have released this one, and I hope that many individuals and companies that had aftermarket parts for the original Corona begin to release upgrades for the Funcopter.

I also hope that this one sells well for Multiplex for years to come, IMHO the market needs a helicopter like this as a simple, robust, trainer for beginers, not to mention a simple, cheap and fun machine that more experienced users can 'throw around' without the fear of more costly repair bills.

Edit note...
One thing I would like to see is a 'pod & boom' style machine with a canopy shaped more like the orginal Corona (I still think the original Corona is a fantastic looking heli).

Still fly my old turkey regularly, two flights yesterday. Bought in 96 and still going strong. Still has the wire tail drive and has never been replaced allthough I have a couple of spares, same with the tail blades. Most durable heli built. When a new one shows up, I'll be first in line for a spare.

EUR360 with MwSt, RR, so maybe USD400 ball park? That's a bit high IMO, but consistent with what was written above.

If it is meant for beginners then they might not know that fact If it is meant for them than they do not know exactly what they are doing and might think it is a good deal?

Couldn't agree more (especially with our 's#*t house' Aussie dollar atm), I hope the higher price doesn't cause this latest version of the corona to suffer a similar fate to it's earlier sibling.

The price may be fair, but I believe that there is a mind set amongst people in general that follows what you have said above, the fact you can purchase a better performing, more appealing heli for the same, if not less using one of the T-Rex clones, than the Funcopter isn't going to do it many favours when it comes to widespread acceptance / adoption.

I would have thought that perhaps $150.00 US or so for the kit, and maybe $275.00-$325.00 for the RTF pack. Even at those prices there our other 450 options available. Even though these heli's are aimed at different users / uses, the fact remains that it is a perceived value thing.

Not that unlike the Hirobo Quark. I think they are about the same size.

I have contemplated many copters for my 15 yr old son who lives where it is very windy all the time. Finally ordered him a HBFP 2.4gHz for $99. I am sure he can find a garage or gymnasium to learn in somewhere. Almost just gave him a trex450. That will be next. I am nost sure anything over $100 is a good starter in this sport. What if you find out it is just not something you are into?

I agree - and it's the ONLY heli that survives my poor skills of flying !
