Rewind Turnigy SK4260-500


Mi First test for Turnigy SK 4260-500

No Load, 1.37A, 12.32V, 6400 rpm, 517 Kv.
Cam 12x6, 8.64A, 12.24V(3s), 6200rpm.
Cam 12x6, 18.32A, 18.85V(5s), 9200 rpm.

Zinger 14x8, 24.73A, 11.72v (3s), 5400rpm.
Zinger 14x8, 46.18A, 17.35V (5s), 7600rpm. 801 watts.

I want to test with APC 15x6, 8 and 6s.

I want this motor for GP reactor .45 and 6s.
I goint to rewind for low KV.
I going to try with 6 turn 18AWG for 430 KV.

Manuel,

do you think you can improve the performance (efficiency) of the motor by rewinding it by getting more copper in there, or is your objective just to adjust the KV?

Mi first objetive is the KV.
I want to use with 6s. and 15x8 , 16x8. with less 60A.

If I can put more copper, I think that if, then you get better efficiency.

Another goal is confident that 1200 watts, the motor does not burn, either by the use of very thin wire, narrowly copper, or by excessive heat generation.

For this, I use 17.5 and not the wire no. 18.
But I have to see if this is possible, once I take out the stator.

Manuel,

it would be interesting if you could add pictures and a description of how you remove the stator. I tried once on a smaller motor, but could not separate the stator package from the bearing tube without damaging the parts.

But this turnify has stator very hight, 33.5mm and large cuantity off Black epoxyy the base. i have problem.

Hi Manuel, recomend you remove the bearings and get the the stator really hot with a paint stripper hot air gun , i then use a type of vice grip
(Trojan brand) that has a very deep V shape in one half jaw and a toothed smaller jaw that forms a trianglular grip,
wrap the stator with a piece of soft copper or lead to grip and not damage the stator then set grips and wriggle the stator off the bearing tube,
I have used this method on many and has become my best method

Thank you very much for the advice.

I understand that for these stators the solution is heated properly, to come off the epoxy.
After struggling a bit because they can not properly heated, finally pull the stator, with some damage in an area that was covered with black epoxy. see photo.
nothing that prevents me rewind.

This motor is difficult to disarm, the stator, carries a lot of black epoxy and the wire is so thin that comes only in pieces.

Heat is the answer and plenty of it, even to get epoxy soaked wires off, the only other way way is a special hot acetone spray tank wich is dangerous for amaturers like us and is a specialist laboratory equipment.

Finally end winding with 2 wires 21AWG, 6turns.

My first test., no load.

5200 rpm, 1.04A, 12.18V, 427KV.
Zinger 14x8, 6600rpm, 29.79A, 18V.
APCe 15x8, 6600rpm, 30.6, 18.05V
APCe 15x6, 7800rpm, 30.5A, 22.2V, 6s3300ma. 670 watts.

A stator so high, it is very difficult to wind.

Fantastic results! It looks like you nailed your KV right on the money!

I've always wondered if the taller stators are harder to wind and now you've answered my question. I still might buy one of the smaller SK's to rewind; not sure though because Hobby City just released a few smaller motors that I'm keen to try...
