Team30 Micro EDF FW-35A Lighting II

This is my latest project where I will be testing the Team30 EDF units in a real environment. The plans were from parkjets.com scaled down to around 70% to give a 15" wingspan. Initial flight testing will be on 3S.

I did the build just as Mr. Boogie did. Fuse first. Formers and motor in.

Then the forward fuse sides and bottom.

I closed the rear fuse up after installing the servo's and esc and running the wiring.

Next, the rear fuse top and vertical fins ( I added a tailpipe too).

The wing is 2 sheets of depron with depron ribs. Each also has a 1.5mm CF rod extending into the fuse.

Both wings now on and installed the first taileron. I used Teflon hinges as there was barely any 'meat' to use for hinge area. Using the Teflon hinge assures rigid, strong mounts.

The other taileron installed. I also used filler to smooth out any sharp joins as I went along. I gave the model a light sanding all over to smooth surfaces.

I wasn't going to paint it before maiden but decided to splash some grey on top and white on the bottom to help with orientation.

I have to now make a canopy area. I will be carving a foam block for this. I was going to vacform one but this will be faster for the moment. Once on, I can see where the lipo needs to go for correct CG and will cut a hatch in the right spot.

Thanks Mike.

I used ~1.5mm depron - same stock as used on the Hawk and Skyray. I am running dangerously low on it now. I think I can get one more model in (GGRN's Huckebein TA 183 is the plan) and that's it.

Must source more as FHHobbies kinda gave up on supplying it.

Also should mention that I skinned the front bottom fuse back to the servo's with tissue and 2 coats of WBPU to toughen it up.

AUW is 118g including a 360 3S 20C HC Rhino lipo.

As a comparison - the Hawk currently weighs 92g with a GP 300 2S 20C lipo (weight creep thanks to all the added mods and repairs ). The extra wing area and double the thrust I have on the F-35 will more than compensate for the extra 26g of weight.

NC, When you re-sized the parkjet.com free plans, are they re-sized into a PDF?

If so, would you be so kind to post the re-sized plan? Please, please, please

Wow, thanks! Very fast, even on this large field, there seems to be no part of a second without touching the sticks, preventing it to fly out of the eyes range. Thats some real "positive stress". Did the last rounds show the slowest possible speeds with this dart ?
