I am excited Ryan, especially so now that The Bruce moved into the schedule. I wonder who will submit a bit to host the team selection contest?

Rumor I have heard is some guys from Louisville are. That way a F3K fanboy from Santa Claus might, just might, be able to drive out for a day and serve as a helper or a timer or something.

Nice! Just be sure to register the contests with f3k.us or send an email to usaf3k "at" gmail "dot" com.

Hmm, I have a question.

With all the international pilots that seem to be coming to the major US comps this year, what happens to the "eligibility" points for the team selects? Let's say we're at a large 2 day, where the top 10 guys would be eligible for the US team select. What happens if 3 of the top ten are international pilots? Is it fair for the #11-13 pilots to have to earn their eligibility elsewhere?

Just ask'n....

That is a good question. I'm inclined to count the international pilots like any other pilot. Otherwise I think it gets too complicated. For example, say one of the international pilots cleans up in a group. Say he gets a 1000 and the next closest US competitor gets a 500. Do we do a special normalization for that case so the US pilot gets a 1000?

I know personally I would not feel like I was qualified if I placed 13th in a 40+ person contest but got in because three international pilots beat me . . .

What do you guys think?

Tom

Its ok with me if we just consider them part of the whole and not worry about separating them out for the purpose of team selection.

Another question about Nationality, what is definition of US competitor? Residential address?Green card? Or citizenship?

Hi,

This is an easy one. A US National team member is either a US citizen, as stated on his passport or (with AMA approval) a permanent resident who did not represent another country during the two previous years.

I am with you on this one Tom. To qualify you need to finish in the top ten (or whatever the number is).

I do have a CD license and I have actually CDed two team selections previously. I can't commit to being at a contest for 3 consecutive days though.

CDing a F3K team selection really would be great for my thermal Karma though.

I would like to ask if for the 2012 team selections that we use for team selection the calendar year from Sept 2011 -> Aug 2012. I suggest this because with the end for elegibility ending at Aug., we are possibly negatively impacting contests that are normally help in Sept. and beyond.

How hard would it be to include the contests from Sept. 2009 and beyond that already met the requrements drawn up?

It is just a suggestion. I already see clubs scrambling to change dates just so they will be a candidate for team qualifications. In essence, we have shortened our DLG contest calendar to end in Aug for all future even numbered years.

What are your thoughts??????
