Update and I want the 1997 Cox Lazy Bee!!
Hello Cheapskate Parkflyers,
Did a little research last night as I messed up my new Turborix 6ch 2.4ghz radio. I only have 4ch right now as I can’t get the Var A and B to work. When I first got the radio I was able to work the ch 4 and ch5 servos with the Var knobs along the top. But after plugging it in, and not saving the stock settings as a profile, I’ve lost them. So now I’m desperately searching for another, better freeware config (keepitsimple has one on here but so far no word from him on sharing) so that I can use it to the top potential. But you have to have the radio hooked up to program it and all changes are put into the radio instantly. This means that you can have as many model profiles as you’d like. Also got in my second WildHawk from eyeflyplanes. It was used, as expected, and came with a Hitec 3-ch radio. I’m going to take the first wildhawk (that is in much better shape and more rigid) and install the Wattage Speed 400 motor and ailerons. The SpeedHawk will use the 2.4ghz RX from Turborix and new micro servos. This leaves some spare parts for it from the second WildHawk and some cheap gear to work with. I am planning to take the two stock WH 380 motors ( I have 4 total because I got a HF Neptune boat for free that had 2) and esc and turn a large wally world glider into a twin engine 3-ch. With the two spare stock wild hawk servos and my extra 5A GWS ESC I am going to also convert the CosmicFlyer into 3-ch. I have a cheap 4ch TX from eBay coming, it’s an old Futaba for $12 and I’ll get a matching RX. The question left is whether or not to use the installed motor or try to get another motor. I believe that I will upgrade to a brushless outrunner but I do have the GWS 150H sitting around that I may try to make fit. I will start the CosmicFlyer conversion simultaneously with the SpeedHawk project and use my extra 2.4ghz Turborix RX in it at first. If everything pans out, which it never does, I should also have this bunch of goodies coming in…. -R2hobbies Piper Cub RTF (with extra fuse, wing, tail kit) w/4ch radio -R2hobbies F4U Corsair RTF w/4ch radio -Spektrum DX6i w/rx -Airtronics RDS8000 w/ rx -4ch Conquest FPT4NBF by Futaba - two 1400kv outrunner brushless motors with 20A ESC -1000kv Outrunner Brushless with 30A ESC I know…I have 3 2.4ghz radios and 4 crappy planes. But I will crash now…I will always use these radios. I have a 6ch and an 8ch. I do not plan on using the RDS8000 until I have a model that will need it. If it sits on my shelf it sits…was an ebay deal and was less then $170 for everything so just live with it. As for the DX6i this is going to be my main radio for my “regular” planes with the Turborix 2.4ghz for my projects. The left over 72mhz FM’s I’ll have will be for whatever I put together for friends, so that they can borrow a plane and I can still fly and not worry if they break the TX. The 4ch Conquest will go to me…for my Lazy Bee project. It is the one plane I was sooo close to but never got, the 2ch Cox Lazy Bee. IF YOU HAVE ONE IN GOOD SHAPE LET ME KNOW!!!! I will convert it and update it to electric but fly it with the old FM radio for the preservation of my R/C Model past. Until China stops making cheap gear…. Lots of Loft and Level Wings!! -Stone |
