Hi..... I have resurrected a micro kite.. I built it a while back, then did many other models...
Now flown indoors the performance is excellent.. rolls loops hovers etc its a crazy model..

I first of all I had the thrust lines set at zero.. this gives some extra wild speeds and less stability.. crazy flying here..
And every so often it would go into hyperdrive .. accelerating to a way too fast speed.. likely a result of its extremely thin profile
So I added downthrust, about 5 degrees and compensated with some up-trim..
This gave a much steadier cruising flight .. still fully aerobatic.. and crazy enough for me..
At slow speed its floating about, hovering is easy and stable, rolls fast, loops tight and axial, inverted easy stable....

specs 1811-2900, 2s 500 lipo, 6x3 prop, 6A ESC, auw 4.5oz for a 3.2ozsqft loading.. enough power for vertical hover etc...

Its so good that I am now going to go with an EPP version for our indoor bash and crash..

I like your design Dave!

If you put a thrust vectoring motor on it ... you will be in heaven! How do I know? the Big Daddy here:

Is still flying strong and is the hit of airshows for kids today.
Your design is right on the money for a great flyer! Congrats!

And I like your big kite..

My Micro crazy kite needs some tiny LEDs

And now the EPP version is built.. I used 8mm EPP..

specs 1811-2900, 2s 500 lipo, 6x3 prop, 6A ESC, auw 5oz for a 3.4ozsqft loading.. 1.47sqft.. again enough power for vertical hover etc

flown.....
The COG was too far back, and flight was tail down and poor.. to get a better COG Ive now got a 2211-1700 with an 8x4 prop and Ive also fitted a CF bumper.. weight now at 5.7oz for a loading of 3.87ozsqft..its possibly still a bit too far back... flying it will tell..

Here's my favorite acrobatic kite. Completed, Maidened and Found the sweet Down-Thurst + CG for a comfortable flight.

Kinda stuck in between if i should turn this into a Night Kite or not..

Not really. But i do know they have a separate controller on board for flapping the wings. Likely it's also programmable with different modes.

Build one? I have other priorities currently for "Wau Bulan". Malaysian traditional kite to RC conversion.

I've just installed Fairy Lights onto my Kite. They are 3V LED, available in one color or mixed. I tap them directly onto the Balance Port of the Lipo.
