Flasher PE 450
I recently acquired the Flasher PE 450 model as an addition to my fleet. This model is a T-Rex 450 clone with plastic & anodized parts. This model is available from SN Hobbies
Opening the box revealed a complete set of parts and hardware neatly packaged and sorted. The kit is listed as "85% assembled", which appears to be about right. Most of the fiddly head and tail assembly has been done, leaving mostly basic assembly to complete. What is left is as follows:
1. Install flybar assembly to complete head;
2. Mount landing gear;
3. Install tail rotor assembly and tail boom;
4. Install motor & other electronics; and
5. Mount rotor blades and fly.
The quality of the parts seems to be very good. The fuselage had been well assembled and appeared true. The hardware is already 1.5mm hex. The head in particular seemed very tight - in my carbon Flasher 450 SE V2 I am using a CopterX swashplate which has a bit of slop - none in the Flasher PE. The head is made of a mix of anodized metal and plastic.
The motor is a 3200kv model, the same that came with my carbon Flasher 450. I found the motor worked well, but bogged down a bit during 3D flips (especially for an inexperienced flyer like me). With the included 11t pinion it should prove to be a capable sport flyer with some light 3D abilities. The speed controller looks to be of very good quality with a heat sink and card programmability. It is labelled "HW-30A" on the packaging.
This model seems to merit at least as much attention as the recent HobbyCity $35 clone. The Flasher PE 450 comes more assembled, has more metal components, includes a motor and ESC, all for $100 shipped. Seems like a better deal to me! I am building this model with generic 9g servos, and the GY-191 headlock gyro.
I will post more as the build progresses and when I get it flying.
