Need some info on a Zagi speed control

I have an original zagi speed control that was used on a 1700 mah 8 cell pack that came with my zagi. I recently purchased a skyflex by Robbe and the speed contol that was mounted on the motor was messed up so I wanted to put my zagi speed control in the skyflex. I wanted to know if that speed control could handle a 7 cell sub c 1700mah pack. The motor is run at full throttle for most of the flight and I didnt want to burn the speed control up.

Thanks for the help

It's not the mah of a pack that deteremines the suitability of an ESC. It's the amp draw. That would be determined by the type of motor and the prop that you intend to use. Give us that info and the type of ESC (Zagis have used a few different "stock" ESCs over the years) and we can tell you whether or not the ESC would work or not.
Chances are that if the system will draw more than 15 amps, the ESC should be upgraded.

Well theres not a whole lot of info I can give.

The motor as no markings on it. The motor is 2 1/4" long and is 1 3/8" wide or about 5" round. It looks like just a regular stock motor you could buy at radio shack.

The prop is 11" from tip to tip and the blades are 5" long and at there widest point 1 1/4".

The prop is run on a belt drive system, so it isn't a direct hook up.
The belt it is run on is about 4" long.

I have run it once for a short time and it seem to do well, I just didnt want to burn it up on a longer run.

As for the speed control it is a ZAGI 20 ESC w/ BEC which was run on a speed 400 motor w/ a 9.6v battery but with a small direct drive prop.

I hope this helps. I am trying to get a whatt meter to help me out on these ?'s but I am having a hard time finding one a college student can afford, if someone has a spare let me know
Thanks
Nick
