Got some balsa beams from a shipyard in Connecticut for free way back when and though I struck gold. After carting them home over a thousand miles and started to saw them up I soon realized they were mostly for lining hulls and not build model airplanes.

Yes , we saw a rather large chunk of Balsa at the local fine lumber emporium . Although lighter than everything else it still was heaver than the Balsa we use … and it wasn’t even remotely cheap either ...

Re: “Crack Wing” … How did I miss that one … ?
Is that another one the Asians ripped you off for … ?

Inthunk I git the motor wrong on my forgetting that it's running on 2s.. 1200 is to low. Fine for general flying and hasrriers but if you find yourself. Upright it really struggles to hover and looses aileron authority.

Even with th bigger rudder and silerons don't think there's fsast enough airflow. What bususlly happens is it fallson it's back

PbF in Balsa Build Up

I have built a number of foamy PbF's over the years and figured that what works good in foam should be fun in wood. Blew up the plans by 167% to 30" wingspan and designed around a 40 size motor. Final weight will be around 5.5 to 6 pounds.

Motor - Cobra 3520/10
ESC - SkyPower 60
Prop - MAS 9x7x3
Battery - 5S-5000
Wing Area - 840 square inches
Wing Loading - approximately 16.5 oz/sq. ft.
WCL - approximately 6.8

Now just have to wait for winter to be over and the flying season to start.
