Yeah the b900 has a "wide"-looking pod in proportion to the span, but it is flat if seen from the side. Overall I think it looks kinda sleek.

Well, I finally completed this plane, have maiden it and flown it a few times; and to tell you the truth and I'm not truly impress with its flight performance, may be it's the way I have mine set up. It's not as floaty as I thought it would be and its roll performance seems sluggish to me, perhaps the dihedral I put in to it is not enough for a rudder-elevator DLG...

I think I mentioned back a ways in this thread something similar. This plane is not a floater at all. It really moves across the sky. BUT, you can still slow it down enough to catch thermals. Basically, it requires a bit more aggressive flying style.

I agree that the turning is a weak point. It could use more rudder authority. That said, its reaction gets really bad if you hit the rudder while trying to fly too slow. Speed it up a bit and it will turn just fine.

I took mine out last weekend and had a pretty good time with it. Got a couple good thermals and climbed as high as I wanted. Give it some time - it might grow on you.

Convert V1 to V2?

Hey fellow Binary owners, i purchased & built a V1 just before V2 was released; and want to upgrade it to a fixed tail & ailerons. Can i just cut the wings and use the fiberglass as a live hinge?

no,

in this case you must make your hinge (tape for exemple)

Got It. Thanks
Guess i'll be looking at facing the exposed foam with thin balsa or epoxy+micro balloons.
I'd like to keep the topside clean so i'll have to use silicone or maybe try CA hinges?
Not sure if tape or peelply can be applied on the underside of the hinge...

The only real difference between the v1 R/E and the v2 aileron versions of the B900 is the live hinge material in the wing. So if you like flying R/E, I don't see any reason not to build it with a little more dihedral and leave the ailerons fixed (do they come pre-cut? or are the wings "solid" out of the box?).

But having the flapperons gives you the ability to slow it down for landings, and gives more maneuverability. Them's are tradeoffs you need to weigh for yourself...

Other than that, the RE v1 flies nicely. It has somewhat heavy wing loading, so it's not really a floater, and likes a little speed. But it's fun to race around the field, and if there's lift, you can most certainly speck it out! I would assume the aileron build would come out a little heavier still, so float may be even further compromised.
