2.4 Diversity RX's ... where are they all !

Hi,
I know the oracle has been around and working perfectly for ages but can anyone tell me if there are any new products coming out ?

I heard there was a new product coming from ImmersionRC ?

Has anyone designed a decent RX based on airwaves diversity module ??
Been waiting for over 6 months but nothings come out yet

yeah there is some new stuff coming out, but pretty well these things take time and small developers can't work that fast yet. That's all I can say about it for now though.

We've shipped quite a number of Duo 2400 diversity receivers, although the majority went to European customers. We should have new stock in Q1/2009.

Zoltan (NGH) is scheduled to receive a bunch, so that's probably the quickest way to obtain one.

Cheers,

Sander.

Let's clarify this before people badmouth me or Sander.... This product is not yet available on the market. As Sander said it will be available on Q1/2009. Sander and Anthony have manually built a few of these to test and develop them, that's what's out there, and the only one I know of in north america is with Funjet pictured above. The second one is on my building table waiting for a new PCB from Sander...

but I agree with Funjet, this is the best diversity I have seen, and it works with Lawmate and Airwave transmitters both. It is a winner in every point.

I will apologize in advance... Sorry, it is not my intention to ruffle any feathers, and I am sure the Duo 2400 Diversity Receiver is a fine product.

That said, I really hate programming a device by those stupid beeps.
It is easy to get lost doing that and have to start over.
Not at all intuitive, and if you want to change a setting, you have to have the manual at hand.
Yes, I know, do your homework and hopefully you only setup once... but still...

I also realize this is how many other devices are setup.
Would it be that hard to make it so you could use a "program card" like many esc's use?

This device does not have that many options, so it would not be too bad to setup.

Some device have as many as 10 or more menu items, a real pain to setup by beeps.

Sorry again, rant over.

it's true that it is not easy to setup but in reality, you do not need to do so, the default setup is ok. If you do need to do it only once...!

Agreed 100%. Beeps or a single flashing light programmed through a single
button just drive me nuts. Have run into em on the Track R head tracker.. and various
ESCs and so forth. Even just having two buttons, one to select the
menu choice and the other to choose the value makes it much easier
but it's still annoying to have to have the manual around to know what
you're doing. My Zlog recording altimeter has a tiny 4 char 11 segment
per char LCD screen that lets me navigate and program items in
about a dozen different menus, very easily.

Geeezz, guys, there's no programming involved to get it running, default settings are fine for 99.9% of the users. The option to manually program some settings is just for the tinkerers. Just go over the manual and you'll see. And if you do want to manually change the battery voltage alert level it is similar to how you program an ESC. Please don't tell me that's complicated or you've got the wrong hobby picked I'm afraid.

Cheers,

Sander.

Good user interfaces are not designed with that attitude, but I'd expect
nothing more.

One more that agrees here! I used to have a XPS 2.4Ghz system and it too was a nightmare to set up with different colored LEDs flashing and having to do the right thing within a certain time interval. Not user friendly at all. Now all I buy are Hextronic ESCs because I have a USB programmer for them and it is so easy to do.
