No, not cheap, but Robert flies it with "only" 30% nitro most of the time! The higher nitro stuff is generally just for racing.

Yep, scratch built. Below are a few construction pics. I'm still looking for somebody to shoot some digital video that has a camera with enough lens to get good flight shots.

No, but someone knows somebody who does! I've become very spoiled over the last 10 years and I'm not sure I could scratch build models any more without a laser cutter! I think I'd just send the parts out to a cutting service if I did not have access to a laser myself.

I was amused by this, and thought I should share it with you in case you may not have already seen it and would enjoy a little laugh!

We flew prototypes with "winglets" and no rudder and had good success with all up weights up to 6.75 lbs. We wanted to minimize the "Dutch Roll" effect and have rudders as well, so... based on a successful air frame prototype, we added rudders. As far as the sweep in the wing, its not as dramatic as you would expect. It balanced quite well with (2) 3S 5000's and a full compliment of electronics (GoPro, FLIR unit, Eagle Tree, etc...) and has an airfoil shape derivative of the venerable DLG-1000. Her flight envelope is very broad and is an excellent S.A.R. / FPV platform... stay tuned for updates and thank you for your interest.

Thank you. We have the following specs so far:
Hollow form monocoque air frame in Carbon or Fiberglass (proprietary formation)
55" WS
4.5lbs target AUW (to keep in line with proposed UAV/Drone max AUW proposed by the FAA for the May/June window)
The power plant varies: 900kV<2000kV Outrunner w/ 10" prop
(2) 3S 5000 mAh (up to 45 minutes to over 1 hour of flight time depending on conditions and flight style)...
Maiden flights scheduled for June...
