looks like you need to hold speed with the nose down and do the last minute flare/power cut. when the gear plants, a little up elvevator to stop the porpoising. cool plane too

Great looking 182 Earl, nice bird.

Here are a couple of pics of my Hellcat on its first test flight since being detailed and painted. It is proving to be a real lady despite being about a pound heavier now than it was during the initial test flights which were done prior to the finish work being completed. Hoping to fly it again tomorrow and get some more flight shots, possibly with the drop tank attached this time around.

Many Hellcats were used as test aircraft and radio controlled drones in the post-war period and were generally painted bright red, although I have seen a couple of yellow ones as well.

Hi Hornetnz,

I assume you're speaking of the Yak and not the Hellcat. The Yak was designed by me and built by my friend Robert Vogel. It was designed specifically for RCPRO and SWRA warbird racing which is quite popular here in the Southwest. The airplane spans 66 inches, has a ready to fly weight of about 9.5 pounds, and is powered by a YS 1.40 four stroke. Construction is traditional balsa and ply (fiberglass cowl), covered in Monokote, and it has E-Flite electric retracts. The motor is set up to run on 50% nitro and, if I recall correctly, it was clocked on a radar gun at around 130mph. The airplane is still new and has yet to race but Robert is very excited about the way it flies and we both have high hopes for it. I have one of my own under construction which will be finished in the scheme the full size airplane wore when it was called "Perestroika". See picture below. Thanks for the kind words by the way, I will pass them along to the builder.
