It seemed appropriate, though the video is blocked in Germany because of it (some sort of licensing thing). Sorry Germans!

Newest Waco to the fleet

Hi All,

I got these photos today of another 45" Waco that was just completed by my friend Robert. The black and white "tuxedo" color scheme is just classic. Enjoy!

Hi All,

FYI... At the Mid-Am E-flies last weekend, Robert's Waco earned "Most Beautiful" award on Saturday and "Best Scale" award on Sunday. He did an excellent job of building and covering this plane. He let me have the sticks for a short time an it flies very nice.

He has me motivated to get mine back in the air. I have mine stripped down to the bones and I've made most of the repairs to the fuselage. Now I have to put together a dashboard for mine, it looks really cool in Robert's, and find a new pilot. Next will be fixing the spar on the top wing and rebuilding half of the bottom wing. I found some spare parts for the kit, so I won't have to cut ribs!

-Jim

P.S. Any interest in a larger 65" Waco UPF? I'm thinking of doing it like Kyle Franklin's Mysteryship as a small tribute.

If I had more room to fly, sure, but I think the 45" one I have will work well for the space I have. Once I get it finished that is. Which might be awhile yet. We're moved into the new house, and I do have a shop area to work on my planes, but I have yet to get it organized and things put away.

You took the words out of my mouth. I love all Wacos, but the taperwing has got to be the single most beautiful aircraft design ever created. (In my opinion)

Or a CTO Taperwing. I guess the difference between the ATO and CTO is mostly engine?
Anyways the only ones out there are 1/4 scale.

Hello all who have built this very nice plane! I am considering building one this winter and I have a couple of questions. I am not an expert builder, but I have built a number of Mountain Models and Stevens Aero kits. I have also built some very simple scratch builds... Is this build over my head? I don't think so, but just checking.... I probably wouldn't add a lot of the scale details. But if I get inspired, who knows. I'd like to end up with a model that I love to fly and can take going to the club field a lot. It needs to be a good flyer capable of performing all of the basic aerobatics, but gets a few stares and closer looks... From what I've read here, I think this plane is for me. I'd just like a few opinions from others to double check.

Thanks for your thoughts.
Steve
