5th annual First in the South - Florida 1/16-18

We are once again holding the First in the South electric meet. This year it is at a new larger location so there should not be any parking woes. Camping is allowed on site but there are no hookups.

The dates are January 16th through the 18th 2009.

The new location is the Can-Am field in Zephyrhills Florida.

The event website is www.firstinthesouth.com

The club website is www.can-amflyers.com

As always there are just 2 major rules to this event. Be safe and have fun.

Hope to see you all there!

Jeffery -

Looks like fun!!! This looks like it's a different field from last year?
Count me and Ripley in.

No, we have moved it to a bigger field as we outgrew the old site. This is now at the Can-am field off of rt 52 in Zephryhills. The same place as ZEFF.

for those of you pre-registering, the paypal link is messed up and charging too much. Please just adjust the amount, or I will make sure you are refunded the difference. It seems to be adding tax and shipping. :-(

Another quick note or two.

We had reduced the landing fee this year by half. We have this event to have fun. We figured that we can afford to run the event on a little less and help people out during these economic times.

Camping on-site is welcome and free. There are no hookups however.

My flying buddy and I are planning to come down from Jacksonville. We are just planning on camping (in tents) at the field. I have a couple of questions:

Will there be any food vendors there or do we need to bring all our food?
Are there bathroom facilities or at least porta pottys at the field?

Thanks,
Bill McNeal

Bill and Bob,

There will be food served at lunch time each day but no vendor for dinner. Some of us tend to go locally for dinner as there is a lot within a few minutes drive. I personally am willing to show you a few places for a lift there and back.

I do not think it worth taking the motor home out for dinner.

There are porta johns at the field. If you want a shower there is a flying J just around the corner that several people use.

I hope I answered all of your questions.

Bill - are you bringing your Kite Flyer? I enjoyed seeing that at SEFF last year.

Just checked the weather forecast. If you can believe it this far out... 60's and 70's, light winds, and no rain. Sure sounds better than what we got last year!

Air Show of sorts

Tampabay Aerosport is going to do a flying demonstration of their latest trike on Saturday. They are based out of Zephyrhills airport. They design, build and sell these aircraft and also have a flight school specifically for trikes.

This demo is scheduled to occur during out noon time demo. They are planning on landing at the field and flying with us as well with the RC electrics.
