Help with futaba/hitec compatibility

I just bought a used plane for my friend with a neg shift, hitec 555 reciever. I also got him an old futaba 6xa transmitter.

I've been searching, but I cant' figure out if these are compatible. I know futaba is negative shift as well, but can I change out the tx crystal to match the reciever (tx is on 44 right now and rx is 40)?

Iv'e never had to worry about this as iv'e been using spectra. I'm confused by dual/single conversion stuff- could someone tell me exactly which crystal I need?

They should be compatible. Hitec and Futaba both use negative shift.

The main thing you need to be concerned about between Single and Dual conversion is you have to use the correct crystal. Crystals are manufactured for either Single or Dual conversion receivers and cannot be swapped between the two. The Hitec 555 receiver is Dual conversion so you'll need a Dual conversion crystal.

You are not supposed to change out the TX crystal, so get a dual conversion RX crystal as stated above.
