Now my Tam F-16 is hands down my best plane. Talking to a guy at Hoffman Magnetics that flys the same version. Both of commented on that our Rudd fin was canted a bit. That aside, I dead stick belly flopped it and it stayed together with no damage other than my pride. But I like the semi low cost of the 90mm size jets vs. the 120's. You can easily fly the farther away and not loose visability, but as of right now, Tam only makes the F-16 in 90mm. I don't know what he has up his sleeve next though. I talked to him about making a 90mm size A-10 but I doubt it will happen. I love the F-18, it's what I was supposed to fly in the Marines years ago, so I love the design. Hopefully HET does get better on quality, but for now they are another alternative to $500-$600 EDF that are composite-ish and not foam. But retracts from the factory would definatly be better and I would pay up to $50 more per model to have them already installed at the factory. I also noticed that it is not a flying stab. What's up with that? Seems to me would be cheaper to do.

I have had a lot of the HET planes as well....Sniper, F-104, F-18, and F-16. The Sniper and the F-18 were the only one's I was really happy with cosmetically, but they all flew great!. I spent a little time painting and covering the others and they looked nice in the end as well.

In the end the most important thing to me is how well they fly. The paint and covering can always be changed and unfortunatley because of hanger rash and crashes, they will need to be changed sometimes. However, if a plane flys like crap, a new shiny paint scheme ain't gonna do squat for it.

I have wanted non-foam 90mm F-18 and this may be the one for me. Just trying to decide if I can deal with the $280 price tag and still have to mod it for retracts. Hmmmm. Decisions Decisions.

Yep it`s a nice size for a fun jet to fly. The new HET fan may be a winner too. I thought hard about getting this plane as a twin 70mm, but it will be much more user friendly as a single 90mm.

Well wait for v-2 on this one. They are suppossed to have retract mounts and a full flying stab conversion for it in the v-2. Not sure if it will be included in the kit ("LIKE IT SHOULD") or if its gonna be like the mig-29 wingspar/retract kit.

Hopefully the V1 will drop in price then.

Anyone starting a build thread on the 90MM F-18. I am very tempted to buy one.

Yeah I would like to see one as well. I am still deciding between the HET F-18, Banana Hobby F-18, and Fly-Fly F-4.

I am kinda underwhelmed by the banahobby F-18. My money would go to the FlyFly F-4.

The Banana Hobby F-18 is too expensive and the wheels hang out when retracted. I like the Fly-Fly F-4, but I really want an F-18. I like the fact that the HET F-18 is fiberglass instead of foam.

I am with you on that. I prefer built-up or composite generally. The only bad thing I hear about the HET is that the glass work is very so-so and quite heavy as it is polyester resin.

I am sure they are all fun. I get a real kick out of my FlyFly F-86, so I am kinda prejudiced toward buying another of their planes.

Yeah, the Fly-Fly's seem to be real nice and the larger size allows for bigger wheels and grass take offs, which is nice for my field!
