Scratch Build Off 3 : Hansa-Brandenburg W.29

Here we go again !

This one will be 1/12 scale , so about 44" WS.

There are 3 or 4 colour schemes to choose from , haven't decided which to use yet .

Lake that looks easy. A box with wings. I may have to give a Norman Thompson crack for a float plane. Either that or very tempted to do the Excambian next. Back to my Rainbow now

So, you're gonna build a plane with a water rudder and no air rudder?

At least there are only three colours with the Naval fabric, and they are regular hexagons - a single mask.

Good choice.

OK ,

Starting on the research , I got a couple of 3 views off the web , and Tom sent me a couple he had , and I got some pictures off the web , of course nothing agrees with anything else .

If anyone has any pictures of the real airplane , I would appreciate them.

I had the same problem when researching the Savoia Marchetti .

The manufacturers in those days made "running changes" that were not very well documented .

I would especially like pictures of the later models as they had corrections made to them to correct problems with the early models .

To quote a certain Arkie with an ambitious wife, "I feeeel yer paaain!" But since this is a sport, or fun scale event, do the differences really matter? I'd think that "typical" or "representative" would be close enough. F'rinstance, when Callie sent me the graphics for my Caudron, she had "C450" instead of "C460." Who of you would have noticed - or cared?

I need to issue a public thank you to all those who responded to my plea for help , it is so nice to know that fellow modelers are so thoughtful and concerned .

OK ,

I put the Sopwith Tabloid on the shelf for now , time to get started on the Hansa -Brandenburg W.29 .

I have been sorting out the various models of this plane , different armament , colour schemes , horizontal stabilisers and elevators , etc .

So it is time to get going .

Once again thanks to all those who supplied info and pics etc. , very much appreciated !

..make sure you put a post-it note up on your workbench saying ' The tail goes on upside down on this one'

Look forward to the build.
