3D Hobby Shop's 89" AJ Slick:

3D Hobby Shop's is pleased to announce that they have joined up once again with world champion pilot, Andrew Jesky on yet another fantastic project. The all new 89" AJ Slick is the newest addition to the growing line up of giant scale 3D/aerobatic airplanes that are currently being offered by 3D Hobby Shop.

Below is some information taken from the 3D Hobby Shop website about the new 89" AJ Slick:

"Andrew Jesky, 2008 ETOC and XFC champion, and member of the United States F3a pattern world team, has designed a spectacular 89" ARF aircraft for 3DHobbyShop. The 89" Slick 540 is modeled after the full-size Slick 540 aircraft which is the latest, highest-tech full-size aerobatic aircraft. The AJ Slick delivers the goods:

Total stability which will remind you of a 40% aircraft.

Effortless no-rock harriers and easy, stable hovers/torque-rolls.

Powerful, precise snaps even at lower airspeeds.

Lots of lift in knife-edge flight thanks to the big, light fuselage and powerful rudder.

Put the Slick next to some other popular 86-89" 50CC aircraft and it makes them look small. The huge fuselage of the Slick delivers spectacular knife-edge flight as well as slow downlines for constant-speed performance. All of this is possible on a stock DA-50 or DL-50 engine. Please watch the videos below, flown on a stock DA-50R on MTW TD-75K canister, to get an idea of the vertical performance of this package. Contact 3DHobbyShop to discuss your requirements or for information on engine selection if you fly at high altitudes.
We have collected data on the Slick at 5,000 ft. as well as at sea level."

If you look back a few years, 50CC airplanes used to be a lot smaller than they are today. And, they used to fly a lot worse. The trend has been to bigger, floatier aircraft, and this plane pushes it even farther.

I remember Josh Young's first comment after his first flight on the 89" Slick - "Well, there's no more reason to fly my 35% plane!".

The 89" Slick feels so incredibly light. Someone asked at SEFF this year if it felt like a foamy. In reality, it feels better than most foamies.

A big thanks to Andrew for doing this design work for us. Also, a big thanks to Scott Stoops for high-altitude testing and to Josh Young for beta testing.

I'm flying one on a Hacker A60-16L and 18L. For me, it's great. Josh has one on the massively powerful Reaper Gr-70. Lots and lots of power.
