Nitro to Electric conversion chart
Hello , I have been trying to find out what size motor is equal to a .40 nitro motor ... I have seen some planes that suggest this for the motor .. I like the plane but not the nitro motor idea .. Can someone please give me an idea what the equal would be ??? Thank You , Don J.






Go to Maxxprod.com for Himax motors and the Eflite site for their motors.. They show the equivalent motors from glow to electric.

Great stuff Adam. Here's another cheap but very good 46 size motor. I put a Twist 150 together for a buddy with the same brand, Turnigy 2000 watt. Works great.

Yeah, This Twist 150 takes equivalent to a 30 cc gas motor. About 2.5 hp.






For a quick and dirty comparison...
Multiply the dispalcement by 2000 and that is about how many watts you will want for more than decent performance. .40 x 2 = .8 .8x1000 = 800 watts 800 watts is right between 4s and 5s lipo battery territory. By those numbers a .049 motor is about... 90 watts  easily done with 3s and still "doable" on 2s 





I would second what JimNM said, with one small addition. I use a slightly different version of the formula that is easier to use, and you can do it in your head. I call it the "Double it and add a zero formula", and here is how it works.
If you have a .40 size motor, most people actually call it a 40 motor, without the decimal point. So to get the watt equivilent, you "Double It" taking the 40 to 80, and then "Add a Zero" taking 80 to 800, or 800 watts. For a 60 motor you would double it to 120, then add a zero to get 1200 watts. For a 90 motor, double it to 180, add a zero to get 1800 watts and so on! Works like a charm! Lucien
