I have reserved a gym in Fond du Lac for indoor flying on the following dates:

All dates are Friday’s.
Flying will be from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm.
The cost will be $5.00 per person.
AMA is required.
The following limitations will be in effect:
Airplanes must weigh 3.0 ounces or less;
Helicopters must have a rotor diameter of 15 inches or less;
Quadcopters must have an individual blade diameter of 6.0 inches or less.
Airplanes weighing more than 3.0 ounces will be allowed to fly during the last fifteen minutes of the session. If there is enough interest we will have Vapor slalom races.
The gym was originally part of Goodrich High School; it has two full-sized basketball courts side-by-side. The gym is now part of Riverside Elementary School. The address is 396 Linden St. in Fond du Lac. Park in the lot adjacent to the gym and enter through the right-most door to the gym.

Sorry, I should have gotten this out earlier.

We will cut indoor flying short Sunday January 11th because of the Packer game. We will fly 10 AM -1 PM. No night flying this time around. If the gym empties out earlier (or if nobody shows up…) we could close even earlier than 1 PM.

Happy New Year everyone; now that the hectic holiday season is past it is time to thing about think about indoor flying. There will be flying at Fond du Lac on Friday and at Appleton on Saturday. See post #61 for information about Fond du Lac and the Calumet Flyer web site for information about Saturday.
If you are coming to Fond du Lac from the north on Hy 41, exit at the Military Road exit and turn left. Follow Military Road into the city. Just after crossing the railroad tracks there is an intersection controlled by a stop light. This is Ninth Street. Turn right and proceed along Ninth Street. Just after crossing the bridge you will see some buildings on the right. The rightmost building is the Aquatic Center. The next building is the Riverside gym where we will be flying. Turn right into the parking lot; enter the gym through the rightmost door.

Hi All,

The Indoor flying season at Carl Traeger Middle School in Oshkosh begins November 15, 2015. See the attached poster for the full schedule. As usual, $5 per pilot, spectators free.

Bring your lighted Vapors, helis, and what have you. We will again dedicate the last half hour to lights out night flying. Otherwise, everything will be the same as last year.

We have not scheduled any Sundays on which local swap meets are held. (We all want as much attendance at all the swaps as possible.)

Hi VAM members. Please pass this information on to anyone you know who flies or plans to fly a helicopter or multi-rotor aircraft indoors at Traeger School.

After much discussion, during the bulk of two club meetings, the Winnebago RC Flyers club (WRCF) has decided the need for the following restrictions:

No helicopter or multi-rotor aircraft will be allowed to fly indoors at Traeger Gym equipped with carbon fiber blades.

Inverted flight by a helicopter or multi-rotor aircraft will not be allowed if the helicopter or multi-rotor-aircraft has a blade diameter exceeding fifteen inches, as delineated below.

Measurement:
Helicopter: Blade tip to blade tip
Multi-Rotor: Diagonally spindle to spindle

We are sorry if this causes anyone an inconvenience. But, after several mishaps in the gym, some resulting in physical damage to the gym property, the destruction of fixed wing aircraft, and many personal injury close calls, the club didn't come up with these restrictions lightly.

Sorry this is late, but we have begun indoor flying at Traeger School for the 2016-2017 season. Same format as in past years. $5 pilot fee. Spectators are free, as are pilots under 16 years old. RC, helis, multi rotors, rubber powered free flight, electric control line. Last half hour is dedicated to lights out flying. Hours 10 AM to 3 PM (2:30-3:00 lights out).

As of right now, indoor flying for this coming Sunday December 18th is a go. But there is a real possibility we might have to cancel again, because lots of heavy snow is forecast for Friday-Saturday, and I learned today that the school parking lot will probably not be plowed out in time for Sunday morning.

And they don’t want a bunch of cars in there if they get around to plowing the lot on Sunday so that they can clear the lot for school to resume Monday morning the 19th. Everything depends on how much snow we get Friday-Saturday, and when it hits. I'll be monitoring the storm and the parking lot situation throughout the weekend.

I’ve placed a note on our web site home page warning everyone to watch that page for the latest development. Once I know for certain, I will post a message there.
