Oh! the paint job was done using marker pens ..some very old solvent based pantone markers in warm and cool grays no:9's in the range of greys...it took ages but I was watching the tv at the same time.. Its not at all realistic but at the same time its not bad from a distance..
same with the feathers..far too many on the wing and they should be more rounded along the middle section..It wasn't till I cut them that I looked at bird wings that I saw where I was going wrong...
perhaps next time I might do a more realistic version..

ailerons...yes that sort of shape will work better..but with the KF airfoil I keep hinge lines away from the step lines for I think better glides...there is also the stiffness factor using 3mm depron sheet ailerons... they do flex too much so away from the horns they are bent back by air pressure..I need stiffer ailerons..

All criticisms aside its a nice easy flying glider so I wont be bothering to make any changes...

I am interested in plans for the epp peregrine...hopefully, in the 40" neighborhood. I have tried to find 'em here, but no success. Can someone point me in the right direction.

Yeah, I was hoping Lee would come out with the 40" peregrine falcon he had from the past too. He is in the process of making a brand new falcon with sea gull like wings. I hope he makes a straight wing version too... if he he fells incline to. We'll see.

I think the peregrine is sold as a kit so its unlikely plans have been provided...but why not modify from the FFF eagle to the shape you want..

Ornihopter Drone

This is interesting:

Festo - SmartBird (1 min 48 sec)

I noticed that they used the inverted Y tail like we did on the origional Peregrine. The ornithopter is obviously not going to be very efficient and I'll bet they did some great editing of the video but it is amazing. This is the description at the site.

By the crazy German mad scientists at Festo.

SmartBird is an ultralight but powerful flight model with excellent aerodynamic qualities and extreme agility. With SmartBird, Festo has succeeded in deciphering the flight of birds – one of the oldest dreams of humankind.

This bionic technology-bearer, which is inspired by the herring gull, can start, fly and land autonomously – with no additional drive mechanism. Its wings not only beat up and down, but also twist at specific angles. This is made possible by an active articulated torsional drive unit, which in combination with a complex control system attains an unprecedented level of efficiency in flight operation. Festo has thus succeeded for the first time in creating an energy-efficient technical adaptation of this model from nature.

I liked this comment:

As far as I know about our current state of technology, the only practical use for the Ornithopter Drone appears to be domestic espionage. I predict rednecks will be shooting these things out of the sky, over marijuana crops in the Appalachians.

That's nice Randy. Is that a female American kestrel?

Hey keep us posted on your sea-gull glider.

I like the wings of flapping gull very much. Nice concept with the moving head. But it will take lots more time to come that far to fly a flapping bird without fertical fins at wind speed of 25 knots.
