Waco YKS-6 ARF in 1/8 scale by Pilot 1/Hobby Lobby

Continuing my seemingly endless addiction to new interesting ARFs, I pre-ordered one of the neat little "Pilot 1" 1/8 scale Waco YKS-6 ARFs from Hobby Lobby today.

Anyone else planning on acquiring one of these little gems?

Not many pics of it on the web, just yet. There is a link to the Hobby Lobby on line winter catalog supplement that has a picture of the model on it's new product page. below. The new little Waco is on page 17.

50" span, 37" long, Axi 2814 or Speed 480 class brushless power, flies at 43 oz

http://www.hobby-lobby.com/catalog/

also, if you search youtube for Waco YKS-6, there is a nice video of the model in action.

There is going to be a 1/4 scale Pilot 1 ARF of this same model sometime next year, but I predict it is going to be a little out of my Price range....I bet around 800-900 for a normally detailed one and well over 1K if they super detail it like the Stinson 108 they are showing

Here is a pic of a real Waco YKS-6 in a similar color scheme to the new Hobby Lobby offering.

Tom,

Yeah, I like that one too. Not as much as the SRE, but, it is a good subject at a good size.

Are you considering the SIG SRE too?

FYI, I still remember that beautiful flight of the YMF at Little Rock. Loved watching you fly it.

The Sig SRE is not on my must have list, but I have been tempted, I would have likely gotten one if the big Cox Waco had not been available.

I like the slightly older style of the YKS-6, for some reason. It speaks to me. Looks like a model that would be endless fun to shoot landings and make flybys with. Plus, it is SMALL eligible...

Thanks for the complements on the Waco. I do love flying that thing. It got Pilot's Choice at BEST a few weeks back.

I am only planning on doing one more big bipe at the moment, and that is a TF giant scale Staggerwing that is approaching completion.

I prefer the YKS, over the SRE. LOTS prettier machine.

I've had my eye on the YKS-6 too. Somehow it just appeals to me, and the wing loading is about right for this model, in my opinion. Will be watching for your review.

Just got my neat little white Waco YKS-6 in this afternoon...had time for a quick look at the parts before I have to head back to work.

It looks GREAT! Since I am doing the E-Zone review, I am going to save most of my comments for there. But, it is a high quality gem of a model, going by the parts I unwrapped.

I had already pulled out the float drawing as well, because this little guy would be killer on floats! Looks like one could bolt/screw in the little plywood landing gear retention blocks so that you could easily remove the stock landing gear for a float conversion later....

Ahhgh! Not ANOTHER new plane!

I'm a little surprised that a 43oz airplane with 600+ sq. in. wing area with a 2814 Axi motor is being powered by a 2100mah 3S battery and is advertised as capable of 10-15 minute flights - seems "overly optimistic" to me. I am awaiting independent confirmation of this from flyers. It looks really great, though!

Very interested in this one.. I'm going to wait and hear some flight reports before I jump on it though. I'm thinking 1020kv Park 480, 40a esc, 12x7 Xoar prop, and 2200 3s lipo. The stock setup just doesn't seem like enough power to have any fun at all. Sure is a nice looking plane.
