Frankenstein UHU/Spectra
Although I've been reading The E Zone for a while this is the first time I write a post. Although I did get some ideas from tpainter and DAVEAIRWAY on electrifying a BOT...
![]() At this point I don't have anything flyable and I'm desperate for a flying "fix". ![]() I have a NIB Bird of Time and an NIB Estes Sweet Vee Rocket/Glider but I currently don't have the time to work on those. I've gotten to the point that all have left are a nose-crashed (but repairable) Graupner UHU fuse and an uncovered Spectra Wing . Do you guys think the Spectra Wing/UHU fuse frankenstein combination will work? What motor/battery/esc would be recommended. Could never get the original UHU to fly well on the stock 600. I suspect it was too heavy. Based on some of the posts, I've considered a Magnetic Mayhem hooked up to MA gearbox. Any ideas are welcome...

As long as you get her balanced right, I don't see any problems with it flying.
I would suggest the Kyosho Atomic force with a 3 or 3.5 gear on a 12 x8 prop. instead of the mayhem. Try it with Motocalc first -- www.motocalc.com and I think you will see the benefit. I fly a Spectra this way and the climb on 6 cells is close to 775 ft/min. On 7 cells its over 1000' and on 8 cells it's almost vertical at close to 1300'/min. T.T. |
