3D Hobby Shop 47" Edge 540

Snuck away with Ryan "AllBread" White this morning for some video hyjinx with the 47 Edge prototype. This is the second generation, but not the final production, thus the Kawasaki low-weight green covering. The final 47" Edge scheme uses Ultracote metallic green. Other than that, the model in the video is exactly like the production unit.

47" Wingspan
43.2 oz.
Reaper GR 35
APC 13x8e
4S FlightPower 2150
Spektrum 6100
(4) HS-65MG servos
JR 12X transmitter

This 47" Edge 540, developed by Scott Stoops, is a fantastic performer. Light KE coupling, no wing rock, excellent pitch authority, great all-around flight performance....all in a durable lightweight package. The Edge is really, really easy to assemble, too. The wings are easily removable, and ride on a strong carbon-tube wing spar. The landing gear is one-piece, molded carbon-fiber and mounts to a strong, composite-reinforced plate. The motor box is pre-assembled and pre-drilled and nutted for many popular 28-30mm outrunners. The tail feathers are fully-airfoiled for highest performance.

The Edge includes ball-link/phenolic control hardware, and is covered in genuine Oracover (Ultracote) covering. The green version is done in beautiful pearl metallic green. The red version is beautiful true red, just like the full-scale RedBull air racer.

As you can see in the video, I was just mostly screwing around 3D'ing down low today. The 3DH Edge is just so honest in harrier and alpha transition that it feels extremely comfortable in the dirt. For me, the Edge just fits like a glove. All three sizes feel super stable, yet will get wild when you beat on them.

The Reaper GR35 is a great match for the airplane. Lots of pull at my high altitude on the 13x8 at 650 watts. At sea level, the 12x6 would probably be ideal. I'm getting really solid throttle response from the AB/GR combo and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Anyway... enjoy!
